I don't know about that.
We'll have to see how this season goes, but Jaquez seems to not really fit in Miami's plans going forward. Once Herro is back, most of the guard minutes will be split between Herro, Powell, and Mitchell. Most of Miami's frontcourt minutes will be split between Adebayo, Wiggins, Ware, and Jovic. That leaves Larsson, Fontecchio, Dru Smith (who just got a 3-year deal from Miami), Jaquez, and possibly Keshad Johnson fighting for the 8th and 9th slots in the rotation, and I think Jaquez is going to get squeezed out of the rotation in favor of Larsson and Fontecchio.
Depending on Miami's plans for Wiggins and Powell, Jaquez could have a much bigger opportunity for minutes in 26'-27'. But if Miami decides to let both Wiggins and Powell go, Miami will need shooting, which is not Jaquez's strength. In a scenario like that, I could see Miami being interested in deal around a Jaquez for Knecht swap.

Of course people will dislike him for being a Laker, but in addition the age thing is a little overplayed. It was still his first year in the NBA, which is a mile apart. He was also tossed into a pressure team situation as a rookie and people wondered why didn't always show out.
Sasser?
I much rather have Sasser. I know Detroit has a lot of guards, but I just think he's good.

Lakers might do the Sasser deal, if value was added to the deal. Maybe a 2nd or two. Lakers don't really need any more small players, but Lakers are one of those teams that could sort of get away with playing a shorter shooting guard, so they might be alright.babyjax13 wrote:Laimbeer wrote:So is this like a salary dump for less money/years? No value added. There is no reason to add value, for the Lakers. I would love Dalton on the Pistons, as another bench shooter, with size.scoobs07 wrote:Lakers might do the Sasser deal, if value was added to the deal. Maybe a 2nd or two. The Dalton / Jaime comparison is interesting, because they're very different players (one shooting specialist and one skeleton key guy who does everything but shoot), but they are both wings that were drafted in the middle of the first. Both are flawed enough that it's not clear they can really play a big role, and while they've shown some ability, they are too old (24.5 yo) to really be "prospects" any more.

Re: Who wants Dalton Knecht even as package deal?
I don’t have a specific answer, but if Indy dealt Mathurin in another deal, I could see Indy having some interest in acquiring Knecht as a rehab type prospect (as they did with Nesmith, Jalen smith, etc) to backfill the position. But I could also just see them letting Johnny Furphy run in that same role, as he’ll have had 2 camps with the Pacers and a lot of specific instruction on their system already.

Re: Who wants Dalton Knecht even as package deal?
I liked Knecht in the draft, I'd take him for a 2nd, not sure how to fit him into the Pacers team right now for a 15 man roster. I'd like it if he was a little bigger but that's what it is he's 6'6'' at SF. For a 2nd if I had the roster spot and cap room I'd like to give him a try. IDK why the Lakers would want to dump him I'd keep him if I was them at least till summer.

Re: Who wants Dalton Knecht even as package deal?
The problem with Knecht is that this is a perfect example of somebody needing a fresh start. He was looking like a budding star last season, before the rescinding trade for Mark Williams. After the rescinded trade, it seems to possibly be affecting him emotionally/mentally. This is understandable, he is a human being. Sure, it's a business, but being traded like that as a professional athlete, I could imagine could be hard for a lot of people. This was after he dropped out of the top-6 in the draft, so it could be a compounding issue with him, possibly doubting himself, and feeling extra pressure. The kid just needs a fresh start some where else, and he would probably have a good NBA career.

Yeah, no reason to add value. Sasser was almost as good a 3pt shooter at Knecht last year, he's a way better ball handler and defender, and they are pretty much the same age. He's the exact kind of 3&D guard that the Lakers need.

Small guards have less value. I think LAL is owed a 2nd.

honestly they have no real need for him, especially now they got Laravia and they've been trying to to trade him for a while.
Someone above mentioned Sassa so did a little research and I'm not sold Sassa 6ft2 guard (assuming I got right one lol) and while I said I'd take almost anyone, not sold on undersized guard, unless it's like Monk who can give us a good 18pts a game, yes I admit don't know anything about Sassa
If Knecht can't give us the scoring for what he does, then what's the point? he can't play defense, got a feeling at least on the Lakers he'll be a streaky shooter like one every five games he'll go off.

This time x10 would be ok then, like you said we don't need another small guard, unless it's Monk, I do like Monk

Nah that was always more Lakers fans hype than reality.
His reasonable development path is someone like Corey Kispert - good (but not elite) 3pt shooter, enough wiggle on offense to be more than just a C&S specialist, adequate size for a wing but below average athletically so will never be a great defender (but can be good enough to not get targeted if he plays smart and focused)

Vincent/Kleber/Knecht for Vooch
Value is fair, but we dont need Vooch
We need more defensive minded guys, preferably 2 way guys
We have 3 needs
1) Wing defender who can play offense and ideally close games
2) Defensive minded backup C/starting C
3) 3 pt sniper
Theres a chance Knecht can be a sniper this year though
I would only move him if we can get spot number 1 or 2

Those things take assets to get. Don't think what is on offer here is good enough to easily make that happen.
