The Jays have broken records through a teams first 2 playoff games with this red hot start. But I wish they would have let Yesavage go until he gave up a hit… if he ever would have. That has to sting a little after the game. I dont like saving him for game 5 when they had a chance to step on their throats and go up 2-0. Luckily a couple relievers out of the 7 they used weren’t terrible. But I would have predicted beating them 13-0 and sending them on the plane back to NY feeling punched in the mouth and the gut…lol

I also feel bad for Varsho… dude is only the 6th person in mlb playoff history to have 4 extra base hits in one game, 2 of which were HRs, and he’s a footnote after the game behind the teams first grand slam. Dont get me wrong, I came out of my chair on contact when Vladdy pulverized that baseball. However, do you know how many playoff games there have been compared to how many Blue Jays playoff games? And only 5 people had ever accomplished what Varsho did last night at the dish.

I totally understand being overshadowed by Yesavage ( …and deservedly so), but 2 Hrs, 2 2Bs, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored trumps grand slam and 2 singles to me :) Both great games, but Varsho needs some more recognition for just hiw foolish that day was at the plate.

Its also nice to see Springer get a chance to do what they brought him in for… and that is help this group win playoff games. He and Clement went hitless in game 1, but both of them also came up huge in game 2.

Scherzer was maybe the worst pitcher in baseball in September and Berrios is injured/not available to be on the roster. The only real alternative was Bassitt coming off an injury himself and they decided to go with the extra lefty instead given how LHB dominant the Yankees are.

Nathan Lukes and Santander need to be starting. Santander had great ABs last game.

I do think we could use Bassitt right now for a possible game 4 with no SP though. Lauer did not inspire much confidence yesterday and they have no bulk guy other him.

Would need an injury to open up a spot.

This would be incredibly relevant (I mean, kinda, it still would have driving in one run, and we'd have won 12-7 instead...) if we were playing in one of those 22 ballparks.

Listening to Yanks media and YouTube, they really think they have the advantage with Rodon vs Bieber. Of all of our pitchers if there's one that can go in Yankees stadium and shut them down in the post season it's Bieber. This should be the first low scoring game of the series. However another beatdown in Yankee land would be awesome.

I get the sense that if we can jump on Rodon early, the Yankees are just going to give up. It doesn't feel like they've got any fight left in them.

Not Judge though. He will get 2 singles when the game is not close, after striking out with men on base earlier in the game.

Are you Jeff Passan?

Joking aside, that was an epic HR. Right up there with Bautista's in 2015 and one of the best of all time!

The great thing about the Jays all slumping during the end of the season is... they're all out of the slump together.

Bautista homer is definitely higher given the stakes and the dugout reaction.

Vladdy homer is just a notch below though.

Rodon is another playoff choker. He won't make it past 3 innings.
