Re: Raps V. Nuggets - Preseason - Mon, Oct 6th, 2025 - 10PM EST
way too early reactions
SB's offence is still just as bad/non existent. Great defender though
CMB looks like a rookie but is making quick decisions (love to see it)
RJ is good at basketball
BI is also good at basketball
IQ is out there getting cardio. Invisible.
JM hustle guy
JW has the potential to become good at basketball.
GD needs to do something if he's not hitting 3's
Can't wait to change all of these after the next half of basketball

The team just doesn’t make sense offensively. It’s not fixable. Just gotta pray we can replicate the defence the team played in the 2nd half of the season last year.

gonna come down to making shots. 3s and floaters. if he cant then he won't stick.
yeah and his defense isn't really as impactful as his rep suggests, especially at his size. in the end davion was probably the best fit? especially for how they wanted to scheme up defensively with picking up full court a lot of the time.

CMB has to be aggressive on the pick and roll finishing plays. He has the potential to be a great player.

How many years left on his deal?
Game 1 of pre-season of course, but he will not survive Scottie playing like this.
Yeah i'm talking about for the season not this game
Bobby talking about winning now, Darko will have tons of pressure.

Continuously impressed at his all around game. Just a true winning player. Crazy that the Knicks traded 5 1sts for Bridges when they coulda had Cam for 1.
Cam Johnson>Bridges, and i dont even think its that controversial of a statement anymore

IQ looking rough. He can't break down his man 1 on 1 which makes him end up being a stationary shooter or bail out for others.

it seems like only BI and RJ can go out and get a basket. Everyone needs someone else to create it for them

He's gonna have the JJ Redick career arc
Redick, if nothing else, was an elite shooter in the NBA from day 1. He had a lot of other issues, but he was the shooter he was billed as. Dick's problem is that he's not the shooter we were promised. If he was an elite shooter, all of these below average but not terrible traits he has (decent mobility, ok cutting and finishing, can create a smidgen..etc), would actually make him special. But if he's just an ok or even good shooter, then being below average at everything else just makes him a bad player.
Yea I agree, Dick is more of an off the dribble middy shooter than a three point sniper or catch and shooter. I just think he's gonna take awhile to develop and won't be good until the the second half of his career.
Spoiler:

imho i dont think this offense maximizes our player's skill sets. it's a bit too reliant on yak. if darko wants a hub then he should be using scottie there when yak is out.
and without yak, IQ can't get any good looks.
the offense needs more pnr's to simplify stuff and get some guys better looks. we dont have guys that can create space off the dribble so picks are needed. i dont think the .5 stuff really works.
imho, the biggest mistake was trying to develop scottie as a shooter when he shouldve been working in the post and elbow only. basically a barkley type of player with webber type passing.
this has nothing to do with today's game. just how ive seen stuff overall.

We’re paying Scottie the max to be the 4th offensive option.
He has not developed one standout offensive skill in 5 years.
Yes he’s a good defender but paired with 0 offensive improvement since year 1… the MAX???
He’s the only reason I can’t fully buy into this team. What a horrible miscalculation by the front office and coaching staff.
This isn’t a pre season overreaction. This is 4 years of watching the same excruciating offence.

The outcome of this game doesn't matter, but the process is really worrying. Scottie has basically only taken bad, off-the-dribble midrange jumpers and above the break threes (0% from the field). He's obviously going to score eventually. I just can't see an efficient offence being built around his jumpshot. He needs to get to the rim or at least around the elbow.

I'd like to see us use SB in the Jokic role. High post, run actions/movement around him. Let him playmake

In their defence, I don't know what other choice they had other than to max him out. They got rid of any other potential franchise cornerstone, got him a fringe All-Star selection, and then told him it was his franchise. It was either max him out or trade him, which was not really an option at that point.

Yeah, same thing as last year. Some players just don't have that burst or quick first step. Would rather have a pg that can take his man off the dribble
