Thats a pretty tall lineup. Taller than us. Wonder if they click and give us some trouble.
I just saw the box score and noticed Jalen Johnson and Trae played 40 minutes a piece - what’s up with that in preseason?

I wish KCP well.
His play last year also led us to getting Bane.
Can't be mad about that or how he performs going forward.
His prior and subsequent shooting further reinforces the fact that our scheme (last year) was criminally bad and that Prunty may be the most impactful addition. Adding talent is great but it’s not enough.

Not a short team!
(These are with-shoe heights)
Everyone’s “bigs” are big…having two big, physical guards and a 6’10 wing is what makes ORL big…throw in AB and Isaac’s length - both, at times, defending backcourt players - that’s when a team feels oversized

Re: Official Orlando Magic Training Camp Thread - Practices Underway
What does Jett need to show to have his option picked up for next season?
Right now, I’d put it around a 65% chance he’s declined. The front office will probably look to do some cap maneuvering to:
1. Stay under the first apron next offseason
2. Create flexibility to re-sign Tyus or Moritz
We’ll have non-Bird rights on Tyus, meaning we can give him up to a 120% raise or use part of the MLE instead. Of course, if Jase develops, that could make re-signing Tyus less essential.
In all likelihood, Jett becomes one of the sacrifices needed to stay below the apron and he probably won’t be the only one.

Hawks give us trouble regardless of height.
They didn’t at all in the last Play in.

He has to be an actual good player. Even if he shows glimpses of improvement he won't get it picked up. Really hard to see Tyus coming back unless he is awful this year and it keeps his price down to a minimum, but if he is awful they probably don't want him back anyway

Suggs/Jase
Bane/AB
Franz/TDS
Paolo/Isaac/Penda
Wendell/Goga
That roster is like 8 million short of the 2nd apron I believe, Jett's option would take essentially all of that. Basically looking at just mins and undrafted guys filling out the last 4-5 slots. Maybe they can acquire a 2nd round pick if there is a guy they like. There will be a time where they need to dip into the 2nd apron, but if it isn't next year then even to bring back Mo they will probably have to find a way to move Isaac or Goga.
I don't really know what they do if Paolo or Franz makes ALL-NBA-- guess at that point you are stuck 2nd apron for a couple of years, but if they were good enough to ALL-NBA you should theoretically be able to win a chip?

Therein is the issue. If they are that good. Then the prices we are paying are worth it. If they aren't. We had a good run and I imagine well blow it up and try again. But either way, this and next season should be interesting regardless.

Good point on the looming squeeze. We've got a big boy cap sheet now.Idiosyncratic wrote:eyriq wrote:What does Jett need to show to have his option picked up for next season?
