The Hackman, wife, and dogs death is weird. I suspect that Hackman died and his wife decided to join him.

Yeah I know. But why kill the dog?

Edit-- I just read they found pills scattered everywhere. I guess its possible the dog got into them afterwards...

I find that so sad. Somehow a CO2 leak wouldn't be as sad to me.

We don’t know what really happened yet, but it is not unusual for the family pet to be offed too.

So many great Gene Hackman roles. Scarecrow (w/ Al Pacino) and Cisco Pike (w/ Kris Kristofferson) are lesser known favorites.

Back when I was a messenger, Pennsylvania Avenue was closed off between 20th and 21st St., so a movie company could use the Red Lion Row facades as a period backdrop for a scene. Eventually, I discovered that the scene would be Gene Hackman waking up in a car (Model A or some other old car). I waited for a long time just to see him pop his “sleepy” head up. Never saw the movie.

Been watching a lot of Hitchcock this week--his movies are on Netflix now. Last night I watched The Man Who Knew Too Much--the remake (of his own film)--probably the only hitchcock I hadn't seen already and was surprised at how not good it was. It definitely seemed like a movie originally written in the 30s. Definitely hasn't aged well.

On the other hand, Rear Window is still one of my favorite movies of all time.

At Universal Studios in Orlando, they have (or at least they used to ) a Hitchcock section that re-creates a number of set pieces, including the wall of apartments seen out the Rear Window. Cheesy and cool at the same time.

One Battle After Another is excellent, barely noticed it's long runtime (2h41m). Highly recommend.

Just home after seeing it. I liked it, especially the performances by Penn, Leonardo diCaprio, delToro, & Chase Infiniti. The film moves along quickly & is always visually engaging. Pretty terrific in all.

Looking forward to seeing Russell Crowe in "Nuremberg." I have the Alec Baldwin HBO movie of that name (as well "Judgement at Nuremberg") but though Goring is great in the HBO one and everyone else is good, each time the two leads come on screen, it falters and loses interest. Hoping this upcoming one is great, heard positive things about it.

Terry Gilliam did a version of this in the late 80s... have you seen it? Uma Thurman as Venus on the half shell.... wow.
