Just gotta wonder if Giannis' camp wanted this out there so other teams can make strong offers for him, or if it's the Bucks putting it out there so they can start getting better offers from teams.

I think the Orlando Magic are a dark-horse candidate to trade for Giannis

Only way Giannis works in his 30s is if he's playing C, it's too hard to find centers that can space the floor to play with him, especially if we have no real assets after trading for him. He would have to be playing C if we traded for him, he does not work next to non shooting centers, which is why the Bucks waived Lillard so they could get Myles.

You trade for him if it's not more than 1 starter, like KAT + Josh or something like that, if you're trading KAT + either of OG or Mikal for him you're not winning anything. Depth is just as vital to a winning team now as star talent.

I'm not going to fantasize about a world where we somehow get Giannis for Kat straight up or for some combination of 1 or 2 of our wings plus an injury prone expiring Mitch.

My assumption is that Giannis' value >> KAT's value and Giannis' value >> any combination of our high end role players' value. If the Knicks have to somehow send out KAT and possibly one of OG or Mikal at the deadline to create enough value for Giannis my concern is that they just become the Bucks of the last few years with Lillard and Giannis, a team the Knicks have been better than.

It's like people have just missed out on what's happening in the NBA the last 5 years. Brunson, Giannis, KAT ain't winning nothing surrounded by vet minimums and late second rounders.

I don't think Milwaukee is getting more than KAT and future firsts. I'm not ripping apart the team as constructed, and apparently neither is Leon.

If you swap KAT and picks for Giannis are the Knicks actually better? Would Giannis play Center? Spacing would be worse. Defense would be better. Kat is the better passer. I get that Giannis is more valued overall, but the fit isn't clear cut if it was a straight swap.

It sounds funny but I don’t see why not. The bucks goal would be to bleed the Knicks for maximum value and sending out Brunson would do it.
