Re: Official 2025-2026 Magic Trade ideas thread
AB’s biggest adversary is now the team’s cap situation…he simply can’t get paid what he’d hope for without a MAJOR leap. ORL is now deep and talented in the backcourt while money is VERY tight. Imo, he must make someone else (Suggs?) expendable to secure an extension of any significance. As a selfish fan, I hope he takes a modest extension and finds his groove AFTER negotiations. I love having him, but just like Isaac, he’s on thin ice if the rookies provide enough (inexpensive) contributions. I’m a big fan of Isaac and AB as long, versatile defenders off the bench but if they don’t step up on the other end they’ll likely be cap casualties.

I think AB gets a mid level type deal, and I expect the Magic not to pick up Jett's extension.Skybox wrote:AB’s biggest adversary is now the team’s cap situation…he simply can’t get paid what he’d hope for without a MAJOR leap. Re: Official 2025-2026 Magic Trade ideas thread
Giannis rumor popped back up again this morning, with NYK as his preferred destination. I can understand why the Knicks was in no hurry to make the move. They've already had a Championship caliber roster and Giannis is going to be expensive.
I guess the same argument for Orlando, huh? We have a near Championship level team plus the youth. But if we could make an offer for Giannis especially with some of the assets we have?
I know the timing is not right. The training camp is still going on plus we are all tooled up for the new season. But what if by trade deadline or beginning part of the season if Milwaukee don't play so well and Giannis speculation starts again?
For me, I think Giannis could be the piece that moves up the hurdle for us to compete for a championship. But there are also variables like how expensive that will be.
I am posting this now as Giannis speculation starts again this morning with Shams reporting. I think it is worth the discussion

It likely won't be with picks. So you are likely going to have to part with one of Franz + Paolo or you gut the entire roster.
Personally, I am not a huge fan of the idea, as he won't ask to come here which means I am less then interested.

Between Isaac / Mo / AB / Goga something has got to give salary wise. The homer in me would be that AB blows past all expectations and suddenly we are forced between Suggs and Black.
A Bane / Suggs / AB backcourt is a defensive nightmare for so many teams, you almost let your Isaacs go.
