Miami and the Bucks are trying to play up tempo. It is a disaster.

Just go watch youtube, there are tons of "prospects" who look, play, move the same. But people see this as having a "deep bag" while not necessarily having the IQ and mental-readiness to translate it into actual NBA setting. The league is filled with this. I think our PWill and Dalen falls into this category as well. AK really loves this type of project.

Flagg, of course, is the opposite. I watched his 14 minutes yesterday. Against a summer league version of the Thunder, so you can't take too much from his scoring. (10 points in 14 minutes.) But his understanding of the game is preternatural. Where to be off the ball on offense, decisions on the ball, and most certainly defensive positioning. Just a delight; most NBA players never have that much insight, at any level of experience in the league.

Agree, Flagg looks already like a legit elite role player. But that's the point you have to go beyond the "bags".

I think that Flagg's rookie year will look something like Mobley was last year - 19/9/3 per game on 63% TS%, with outstanding defense. OK Flagg will have lower efficiency (maybe 58%?), but he also will create more baskets. Meaning that I expect him to be considerably better than an elite role player.

We shall see.

Do I expect him to have Luka-like rookie year? No.
Do I expect him to be an immediate impact player? Yes.

I like your projection Flagg's rookie number, that's where I have him too. I actually think very highly of Elite Role Player status for a rookie. Because it means he's already mature and skilled enough to complement AD and Kyrie, which will help Mavs win immediately. I don't think Flagg will try to dominate the offense like rookie Luka or rookie Trey Young. He's going to be an elite 2-way player and be the team's catalyst, ready to step up as 2nd or 3rd option. That's elite role player to me, All-Star value.

OK, we're in sync. That makes sense to me.

Wemby grew 2 inches, now listed at 7'5. Sucks for everyone else. I'm rooting for the kid, but wow, can science keep a guy that tall healthy through a full NBA season?

CMB looks like a winning player. His D plays and his 3 ball looks much improved.

Ace Bailey with 20/7/1 shooting 8-13 from the field. It's only preseason, but the Jazz are playing him off-ball and working off screens, something that didn't happen at Rutgers.

The Jazz have sucked for so long you sort of forget that they’ve just been stacking young talent. They now have a handful of very good prospects in Ace, George, Sensabsugh, and Clayton Jr. Another year in the lottery and they’ll be good to go.

The Spurs are just unfair. Top 4 picks in three consecutive years: Wemby, Castle (ROY), and now Harper (who looks really good btw). Just absurdly *lucky.

Brice is a bucket. Ainge gonna Ainge though. He will trade Lauri and keep tanking.

The new high 5 rule in action, this clean block was ruled a shooting foul:

Because Wemby's fingers hit the shooter's hand after the ball was released.
Between this and the landing space rule (which includes any area when the jumper moves forwards), you're really just going to have to let 3P shooters just shoot the ball without a serious contest.

KJ and Jase both look better than Anthony Black already.
