The key to all this is Giannis needs to ask for a trade specifically to the Knicks and force the Bucks hands.

ESPN is so trash. Nothing has changed with the Giannis situation since the Bucks waived Damian Lillard to sign Myles Turner. However, since the NBA needs manufactured drama, they have Shams run a story about Giannis being open to a trade to the Knicks earlier this offseason two weeks before the season opener.

It wouldn’t shock me if Giannis had New York as the place he wants to play if he asked out from Milwaukee, but the timing of this story reeks of the NBA needing some sort of manufactured drama to get the league in the spotlight.

I doubt we do that. The whole point would be to pair KAT with Greek Freak for the lethal inside outside big combo. We don't need this trade to happen...and this is why I think it could eventually happen. With with Giannis finally naming us we have a bit of leverage , but probably need more to get the deal that works for us.

But given enough time, with enough winning from us combined with losing from the Bucks that leverage increases....Gianis has to continue to be willing to be the bad guy and not waiver...

For Giannis to retain value the Bucks have to win ....and his load will be HUGE this season...can he carry it without getting hurt? And if he does get hurt what does that do to his value? This will be a war of attrition that favors us since we are already contenders.

IMO if a deal ultimately happens it has to be for only one starter - either OG or Mikal - and bench pieces. Giving up any combo of 2 starters makes us worse with Giannis not better...

Maybe deuce can start. But you don’t need a super talented starting 5 if you already have Giannis, Brunson, OG. That trio alone is getting you to the finals at the minimum.

Giannis’ game is centered around his athleticism and won’t age well. Wouldn’t trade his for KAT of Brunson.

Losing his athleticism by 35 or 36 doesn't mean he will lose his height or his footwork or his defensive instincts or his playmaking and passing. He can pretty easily become a center by then. Better than KAT even without the athleticism. We're talking about a top20 player in the history of the game now.
Plus, Giannis is 30. Not 35.
If i were the Knicks, this is a no brainer.
The problem is that even a KAT, Anunoby, plus whatever player package still won't make it happen unless Giannis demands the trade.
The Bucks can get a galore of picks if he opens up his list.

Let’s see how far his transcendent talent takes the Bucks this year. He’ll be 33 making 62M when his contract expires, which is a lot for someone that can’t shoot. Players that can shoot age more gracefully. I’d like him on the team to complement the core, not replace it.

His talent has already brought to Milwaukee something that the Knicks are missing for half a century. Without a stacked roster like the one NY is having. And he'll be 31. Not 33.
62m is nothing for a guy who's averaging 30/12/6 for 4 seasons in a row and he's been top4 in MVP voting for 7 straight seasons.

was gonna say. you start deuce in that lineup you're not struggling to beat teams at all. pure shooting around giannis and brunson, are you kidding. elite defense 2-5, are you kidding. i love kat and obviously rob is right that kat/giannis would be the best frontcourt pairing of all time, but if you can get away with kat + filler/picks for giannis with what we've already got at guard and wing we're title favorites

It’d be more important to keep KAT imo because god forbid an injury happens to one of Jalen, KAT, or Giannis, we’d still be able to be legit title contenders. If we trade KAT and one of Jalen or Giannis goes down, we’re done for the season.

I think OG and Mitch to a 3rd team is enough to get the Bucks some guys with upside and picks that they’d likely want, and we can toss in some of the young guys we’ve got too.
