NFL Fever was my jam back in the day. Preferred it over Madden.

Madden will always rule everything BUT i think NFL Street was the most fun i had playing a football video game.

Honorable mention would be NFL Blitz, not because it's good but because you could hit after the whistle without consequence lol

Madden 2001 was insane with the next gen graphics. Nostalgia purposes I loved madden 99 also for some reason and nfl game day 98 was also revolutionary. Not sure I can vote for only one.

Yeah both of those were classics. Especially blitz in the arcade. Just a great experience. I didn’t play street as much

My first football game was Madden 99 on the ps1. I didn't really get super into football games until I got a ps2 (although I did play a **** ton of NFL Blitz on ps1), Madden games were on another level on ps2. Madden 2004 is the only sports game to ever win "Game of the year" for what its worth, I found that fact interesting. Spike TV used to broadcast those video game award shows.

Madden 2001 had a deeper franchise mode than NFL 2k1, but gameplay wise...NFL 2k1 was on another level, at least in my view.

I like how you could hear the players talking before the ball is snapped on 2k1, Madden 2001 on the other hand didn't offer that. Little things like that made 2k1 have more personality/appear more real. One negative in my view about those late 90's - early 00's Madden games was the commentary. Pat Summerall didn't add much to those games, just bland. Al Michaels joined Madden 2003 and was a big upgrade in my view.

If Summerall was alive today and calling games, he would be kicked out of the booth after the 1st quarter. His style would not work in today's league.

Madden 2006, Madden 2008, Madden mobile in 2018, Retro Bowl and some flash games are only football games that i played in my life but all were pretty great experiences.

NFL 2K1 for me, it was a fun game! Same with NBA 2K1!

NFL Blitz was a decent game, it really reminds me of Mortal Kombat for some reason, maybe because of the gameplay?

Both were made by the same company.

TSB along with the yearly rom hacks to add current rosters is the only answer.

Honorable mention to Madden 92 for its injury scenes where ambulances drive onto the field (and likely over players along the way). Top notch stuff.
