He wants to win. Ok. Grass is always greener. He can be traded to a team that would have to gut their current team to get him. Maybe that puts him closer to a ring. Probably not. In the playoffs the 4 years since the championship we've had Middleton injured, Giannis injured, Giannis injured, Dame injured. Injuries happen but that's brutal. He can be frustrated about not getting another ring but his injuries have been a key factor.
I'll just be glad when the season starts in two weeks.

Did anyone ever expect it not to be? We don't have future assets until after Giannis' prime. Is anything different than a week ago?
yeah...i thought our ceiling for the next 5 years would be top 8 with him instead of whats actually about to happen

if were winning 4 out of 7 and were at the deadline and maybe going to be on the road again vs atlanta and hes being the way he is now then wtf are we waiting for...just do it already

Sounds to me like it’s clear Giannis will give his all for this rag tag Bucks team this season, and then he’ll evaluate his options next summer.
Not really a surprise.
Let’s hope we overachieve and Horst is able to pull off some good deals at the deadline or next summer.
yeah if thats his plan to "take it day by day" for "the next 6-7 months" and then he can "make a decision"....then by christmas it could be over. thats not a plan man. thats some bogus worst leader ever **** is what it actually is. back in the day if i had a teammate make a comment like that i would have pushed his teeth back and told him gtfo

What is "being the way he is now"? And with the aprons and roster limits, you're never getting the best offers mid-season, ever. That seems obvious and it's why anyone who actually wants to trade him before 12-months from now, or before he asks for it, is still crazy.

We're in a different world. The last extension we had just acquired Dame and Middleton we assumed would get back to form. And the glue that always held this together was the entire family living in the Giannis compound here.
After all yesterday's news and the rebuke of the Wes Edens statement I think our time is short here unless the team gets out of the gate fast.

how hes being? lets see the guy moved his family away and saying in his most recent interview hes gonna take it day by day?
you with a woman and mother of your chiuldren and she closes the joint account and says lets just go day to day.
yeah..... right.
bring her home flowers and take out the garbage but that aint gonna matter. that mess is....OVER. shes just planning the exit with an attorney/agent youre about to meet on their timetables. were powerless to save it at this point unless AJ turns into Klay and KPJ is the next steph. at this point i dont even trust giannis to buy in beyond stat getting which even before this year had become his norm

In fairness he's still got his place here. And his mother is coming back from Greece to live here with Thanasis this season. So he hasn't pulled up all stakes yet.
But, he did feel that it wasn't important for his wife and his children to be near him in Milwaukee this season. That's a huge move and one where he's emotionally letting got a a huge anchor to Milwaukee. No more ringing the bell during the season.
This is all a normal human part of emotionally disengaging or preparing to disengage.
Our only hope is Myles kicks ass and those no name guards (KPJ, Dairy, Rollins and even Cole Anthony) can somehow step up and form an effective unit.
we need to pray were a bad ass team and he reinvests.
but there is no man on this planet that sends his family away because of **** preschool options to another country half a world away if he is committed to where hes at
Why didnt 1 of our ball less beat writers ask giannis that question then sinxe its such a huge head scratcher to everyone

Does the pressure of Giannis result in that 1 last trade we’ve all been assuming/waiting for? Or are we ready to ride and see what happens?

The kids thing is weird but I don’t buy it until I hear it from the horses mouth.
Either way it would be really nice if Giannis responded to this. Also the organization even if it’s true. Lie about it to get this vultures off of us for at least the start of the season. This has always been way too much pressure for this team.
I don’t buy the kids moving thing until I hear it from a reputable source or Giannis. Just seems so unlike him.
Wish this were true about Shams -- and I thought the same for most of the summer -- but sources did give him fresh intel on the fallout from the late July meeting:After Horst expressed his confidence in the Bucks' roster and his moves, Antetokounmpo aired his concerns about whether this team could truly achieve championship contention, and he wanted to explore whether there would be an alternative path forward for both the team and the player, league sources said.Several teams were discussed internally, but one emerged as the only place Antetokounmpo wanted to play outside of Milwaukee: the New York Knicks, multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation told ESPN.This offseason marked the first time that Antetokounmpo truly initiated the pursuit of his best external options, and he had discussions with the Bucks that ultimately led to the conversations between the franchise and the Knicks.
Now it very much may be overblown for all the reasons Windy cited! However Giannis had the opportunity to tamp this down at media day and went the other direction, and now this.
I have started to wonder though about whether the family moving is actually true.
Is anyone hearing about that beyond the Greek sites?
No one has reported it out beyond aggregators aggregating from those so far. And Brew Hoop took Giannis' IG comment as a refutation of the story:
https://www.brewhoop.com/bucks-news/52318/milwaukee-bucks-giannis-antetokounmpo-refutes-rumors-family-move-greece-children
Shams is probably just making **** up. It all seems premeditated to hit on a slow news day too. League sauces is doing a lot of work in that article

His “day by day” comment seems more in regards to leading the team.
Was struck more by the specificity of “Now, in 6 or 7 months if I change my mind, I think that’s human too”.
That timeline matches up exactly with an early playoff elimination in April or May.
Sounds like if he asks out it’d be before draft day. Which is only fair if the team would be stockpiling picks for another big trade by then.

It’s also really frustrating because we have been the second winningest team in the league next to the Celtics since all this nonsense began 8 years ago. We have been consistently an upper echelon team for 8 years. An elite organization with great ownership in a small market. We should get more plaudits for this run. It’s **** frustrating

Re: Giannis Thread - "The Finals are different, I hope to be back soon with the Bucks"
The family being in Greece is a red herring. Could he leave the NBA in 2 years and play in Greece? Doubtful. He's not going leave one more max contract on the table. And NY being closer than Milwaukee is a non factor when you fly private jets. I'm not saying it won't be tough on Giannis. His family will visit here a few times during the season.
The issue is will we want to play somewhere else in the NBA with the thought he'd have a better chance at a title. Greece is not in that equation.

Still Giannis’s answers are annoying and I don’t understand why he just won’t lie like Jokic does. At this point it is effecting the team and organization. Nobody is going to kill him if he changes his mind.

if youre setting a "6-7 month timetable" while your also taking it "day by day"...thats talking out of both sides of your mouth. imagine any one of us pubically saying that in our organizations to the people we work with or for. its a massive dick move his quote. if id played with a guy like that id confront him.

exactly. its normal to privately feel doubts and think about options but outwardly declaring it preseason is insane narcissism and detrimental to any team effort. every guy we have are going to be playing on day one for themselves.....just as he will be with a mentality like this

i left my wife 8 years ago. my plan was similar and effective for leaving my legacy intact. you nailed it except for the unhealthy part
i used the more common occurence for my analogy. 90% of divorces in college educated couples are initiated by the women due largely to "boredom". i take great personal pride i saw mine coming and went on my timetable instead of hers
the lesson and example i share we could use well here
