Lauri isn't a role player but he's probably not worth 45M.

Still, i think it's very obvious that Horat loves the idea of very tall dudes who can shoot playing next to Giannis. Think of Mirotic, the kid we just drafted, and to a lesser but still valid extent: Bobby Portis.

We desperately need a true wing who can defend and has some offense. This three guard lineup stuff is fun in theory but I have a feeling there is a ceiling on it when going up against the best of the best. Who that wing is, i have no idea.

Yup. AJ Green is not a 3. He simply can’t defend it. Rollins has taken his spot at back up 2. His role on this team is great in theory, but diminished in reality. He’s one of the (very) few assets we have that may be more valuable to another team than he is to us. Need to trade him for a wing. Bring me Eason Horst.

AJ Green is completely ensconced as the starter at the 2. Everything we're trying to do this year is based on the spacing he provides. It's why lineups including him dominate.

Would be great. I don’t think we have anything they’d want.

What are you talking about? If anything, its KPJ or Rollins playing sf in 3 guard lineup.
still learning the game

What return would Turner, ‘31 1st, and ‘32 swap get you?

Highly unlikely, of course, but that’s probably our best package at the deadline.

All I know is Green started on Wiggins (SF) and got stuffed in the hoop a couple times

Sure, but in his 1st 2 seasons in Utah he scored just under 25 ppg on 64TS%. That's a pretty important role.

He had a bad back last year, which in concerning, but was back to his usual self this summer.

Position wise not a great fit here though.

He is a defensive liability.

Lauri makes zero sense on his contract number and now that Turner is in the fold. Much better for us to be the facilitators in a Lauri trade and take whatever veteran contract the Jazz wouldn't want. I'm just not sure what team that is (Pistons?).

I just don't see the fit with Lauri.

I'm waiting to see if we can get Trae Young out of Atlanta. Because as much as I don't like Trae, I think he would bring the ball handling and shooting we need. He's only got one more guaranteed year on his current deal. He might be had for less than you might think.

Please no. We just had that set up with Dame, and it was a disaster.

Few teams can afford to take on bad long term money like the Bucks can.

That could be a significant asset in this transitionary period of the apron era.

We're out of the repeater tax now and can worry about the 2nd apron after we either extend Giannis or blow it up.

The problem is we don’t have many contracts to match it (essentially, just Kuzma).

Something like Jerami Grant and a swap back for Kuz and Smith. But do you really want even something like that?

Our issues were far deeper than simply pointing to Dame.

We need a bucket getter in the playoffs. Trae is a bucket getter.

Trae is bar none the worst defender in basketball. We're talking like, historically bad, single-handedly handicaps your defense stuff. I'd say that's a much bigger reason for not paying what it costs to acquire him. But as far as the kind of archetype he represents, yes, we are gonna need another high-level offensive creator at some point (dream target is someone like Darius Garland). This whole "nobody but Giannis should handle the ball" stuff is dumb and self-defeating. We're not winning another chip with Giannis doing his best 2017 Westbrook impression. We need more offensive talent across the roster.

If the Bucks wanted a shot happy undersized 2 who can’t defend but can create from himself at volume I think we’d already have one of Malik Monk or Anfernee Simons.

They’re betting 1 of KPJ or Cole Anthony can cover that role offensively to a lesser extent but with better defense and ball handling.

Maybe it won’t work out! Either way seems pretty likely we include at least 1 of Rollins/Green/GTJ/Cole/KPJ in trade scenarios.

Nothing I saw from KPJ in the last preseason game makes me believe that coaching has been in his ear at all, nor is this offense any closer to being "modernized" under Doc's archaic basketball proclivities. He didn't take a single three and he still loves pounding the air out of the ball only to end up taking a tough step-back long-2. Dude has all the talent in the world, but unfortunately has a Michael Beasley shot profile. So really, it's gonna have to come down to personnel, and acquiring a secondary creator guard or wing who's already been coached to have a modern offensive game. Not someone that Doc can actively ruin.
