I have/had sciatica. Bone spurs, degenerative discs and arthritis. Got the shot 3 months ago, never better!

LeBron has a great medical team, I'm sure and the tools to get well as soon as possible.

But sciatica sucks and can last for 6+ months. If it's just from a bulging disc, he will be okay once the body (likely) reabsorbs it. But if he has something like a tear, his playing days may be over, or his days of greatness could be over.

Ideally he ends up okay. After he, Durant, Curry, and a couple of others, we'll see if we get this type of greatness for as long as we did from the next generation of players.

It'll be interesting to see if age of decline is at a later stage than it was in the 90s and early 2000s...or if these were the exceptions and not the rule.

Sciatica sucks

I was 33 with a newborn boy, my sciatica almost paralyzed my right leg, I had drop foot, i couldn't even hold him. Physiotherapy helped me to hold for almost a decade while I was doing long distances cycling both road and mountain until it came back. I had a pain from my calfs and below. MRI showed 2 broken discs, 6 doctors scared me, keep going keep postponed it. Until one disc in my upper body broke as well. My fingers and my right tricep was paralyzed and I couldn't move my head north and south. I had to make an urgent surgery else was in danger for a permanent nerve damage. Its a miracle, the next day I had totally zero pain i could do everything I wanted. I showed to my doctor my old MRI, he told me are you **** kidding me? With that back you where doing 200km rides regularly? Doc can you fix me? Yes I can! His answer. I went through a hybrid lumbar surgery, (google it) spondylodesis plus an artificial disc from titanium. 10 hours of surgery. 5 months after I went for 15km of hiking, one year after I do 70km rides, the only thing that is holding me back from more its my fear and the 10kg of weight that I got. Medically the only thing left is just my scars. For 1st time after 12 years I have zero back pain. But again I am not any close to an elite athlete, I am just an IT engineer

this is an insane story. why don’t you just you know ease up and do less strenuous activities. i used to hoop but now i retired from hoops and mostly just go for long walks and try to consistently stretch.

Sometimes we're in denial of our abilities as we age.

Those are some monster rides. I max out at about 50-60k these days and the back is a significant reason. As you say, the weight comes back on so much quicker now.

My nerve pains are mostly concentrated in the side of my butt. A real pain in the ass but I've learned to mitigate it by not letting my feet lean to the side when I'm driving. Pointing them straight. Apparently, that's what was usually causing my nerve to pinch.

You know you're talking about an older player when the injury in question is the sciatica.

One common way you get it from sitting on too fat a wallet, so sounds legit.
