Those open practices are an absolute joke.
Cool, but this is from Jimmy's playbook of not wanting to stay with his current team and I've had to endure some of these times. It's rough to enjoy basketball when you know a player you enjoy watching is behaving this way even for legitimate reasons. I do understand why Butler did what he did and I see why Kuminga is doing it also but doesn't make it any better as a fan of that player or of the team.
I keyed in on Kuminga's agent words when talking before the contract was signed saying his client will have to accept the role... that wasn't Kuminga accepting that situation, that was agent talk and it looks like he's not really accepting it, he may try here or there but he's going to get very frustrated. Money is great, but once you get the contract you also want to be happy on the court which he is not.
There is no mystery here....Jk wanted to leave and the Warriors don't want JK but wanted more than they were being offered for him.
That SFGate article is hilarious. It read just like an extension of all the JK hate on this board.
The open practice is so cringe...it's like a corporate america team building event with fans.
Do you think this changes anything? Like missing Jimmy's little camp?
January 15 can't come soon enough.
No, it just further proves that money wasn't fixing the situation. He wants a high-level role handed to him instead of working for it. Had he been playing the role given to him as well as he can he wouldn't have had more opportunities in GS at this point, but he didn't want to work for it. That's fine if he's good with his career, but something tells me he will regrete how he handled his first 5 years in the league.
I will say this, I think things like this will torpedo his opportunities, he'll be another year older, it'll be another year of possible non compliance with a coach and he doesn't have the proven history Butler had in these situations. It's quite possible he's going to be traded as an expiring contract by the deadline or quite possibly by GS at the end of the year which is why it was so important to get that no trade option taken out and having a team option next year.
It's quite sad to see this happen just because he wasn't handed the role he wanted without the track record of being a high level player in that role.
