We can read the tea leaves with the Knicks call (no one's outright denied it so we have to believe it happened), but you guys aren't seriously buying this "he only wants to play for New York" spin that Shams is putting on it, are you?

The alternative is to win and just keep him.

The team will ask for a list of teams said star player is willing to play for. When the player only gives one team it drives down his price. In turn the team asks the player to increase the list of teams to get market price. Things sometimes get ugly from there. Right now it seems Giannis is hinting it's just one team (the Knicks) that he would play for if Milwaukee isn't a contender.
Hinting from who Shams and espn if you believe that **** and his company that wants Giannis in a big market like New York. He was asked a question he answered it that didn’t mean anything but Shams sure will run with it **** douche bag
Giannis on media day: “Of course, yes. Guys, every summer, there's truth to every report."
I took that mean his team has a middle-man that's leaking to Shams.

That's the goal and hopefully we do just that.

you tell the knicks which guy in this league you want to start over with and then they go get him. they have the assets for that anyway
we'll never get "true value" for giannis but i like our roster. the question is which guy do you want as the centerpiece if giannis is gone. the knicks have dudes and a package that maybe that team would listen

Any trade of Giannis that doesn't include some good young talent and potentially good picks is a non starter. The Knicks have neither. We don't need guys like KAT (only one year younger than Giannis). I don't give a **** where Giannis wants to go.
Any Giannis trade for me either needs a young superstar talent in it, or upside picks with multiple shots at a superstar. Starts and stops there. Otherwise there's more value to the franchise to just have Giannis play out the next year and a half before you move him.
a young bucket getter back for towns and OG for us and im like **** it sure. were not winning this year so wtf do we have to really lose except our pride or even our soul sticking this out
one mistake i think we could make here is we think this league is like the old days. its not. its different now. we need to remind oursleves giannis is a flawed superstar. hes closer to embiid than he is shai in this league these days. if we get the right pieces we have a fun team. we need to go for depth like the other teams have got next. we need a guy who can fill it up and likes to pass too. thats it. plug him in there and lets go!

If Horst/Ownership has any balls/smarts at all they will trade him to the Nets. A little don't let the door hit you on the way out but we still gave you your preferred city.

Re: Giannis Thread - 13th Season with the Bucks
A lot of you don't seem to get it. Two obviously connected things have happened for the first time.
1) Giannis has moved his family overseas to Greece. That tells you all you need to know. His family, NOT championships, is what is most important to him.
2) A discussion with only one team, the Knicks, has occurred. We don't know who set it up, but I'd be shocked if Giannis's agent wasn't deeply involved. And the NYC area has the largest Greek presence outside of Greece, an area where there are Greek language schools. Do any of you really think that's a coincidence?
Sure, things can change. His family could move back to Milwaukee. But right now, the clock is ticking and having a great year here (finals or better) is not going to change the two points above.

Except Giannis just came out and said he is committed for this full season. So that means we still have a chance to make this work.
If this roster is hopeless, yeah, hes gonna go. We already knew that. Nothing has changed

Shams has been relentless on this all summer. And it turns out his info was correct

I still don't think the move to Greece has anything to do with his future NBA plans, unless it's just looking forward to retirement. If it had something to do with him thinking his time in Milwaukee was coming to an end in the next year why not just wait or move them to New York now? Optics? He's moving his family 16 hours away instead of 3 hours away just to be sneaky?

Re: Giannis Thread - 13th Season with the Bucks
Guys I'm here in Greece on vacation visiting family and for a wedding.
Lot of armchair psycho analysis. The interview with Harris Stavrou he said he asked Mariah "after I retire* Milwaukee or Athens?"
He has also mentioned in the past (as has Mariah) that he wants his kids to grow up and learn the Greek language and culture. Even Mariah is attempting to learn the language. I think they simply are planning to live there after his basketball career. I don't think it's directly tied to his immediate future and remainder of his current contract.
Let's just enjoy the season when it gets here and enjoy the monster that he is. This team does have some potential to surprise.

I certainly didn't say it was tied to his current contract. He has two years left on his contract. Enjoy it while he's here. All I'm saying is that, unless he changes his mind, I highly doubt he signs another contract to stay in Milwaukee.
His wife may decide she hates it in Greece, or that NYC is not really that enticing, so things can change.

Dad's that travel for work consistently only see their kids on the weekends. Mariah and the kids will fly in every Friday night. This is being blown miles out of proportion. Meanwhile, Giannis gets to put complete focus on what will be his most dominant season of his career. For the 1st time ever the Bucks have a roster that compliments his game.
