Very pleased with tonight. Salaun needs the G league. All season. I absolutely love the kid but his confidence isn’t there.

Lee starting Kalk against Lively was perfect. Lively isn’t going to do anything on the perimeter but his length kills Moose. Kalk looking pretty damn good

He needs the LNB Elite. It’s clear he doesn’t have a future at this level. It’s crazy how even in a game where everyone is doing so well he manages to stick out like a sore thumb and kill the flow.

Sion hasn’t played so far. Kinda rare for an early second rounder. Or very rare rather.

Eh. He will be alright. If Bismack can learn to dribble around chairs Salaun can learn awareness.

I know its early but what is the consensus going to be after the season when salmon isnt much of anything resembling a nba level player? Because i dont see anything in him at all that suggests otherwise and i dont think its going to manifest itself. Kon looks good though im liking the pick so far. I think kalk will be fine after a year in the league. I could see him being a really nice 2nd string center in year 2 that starts sometimes. Kon and Kalk have a path to be key contributors on this team though. Good picks. Im sure liam will get alot od burn in the g league and show out . I think he will end up as a good role player.

Enjoyed the game, as a win for this bunch even in preseason is  fun! Observations:

> STARTING UNIT: When Miles is percolating he impacts winning! Melo was hitting 3’s but was too cute early trying his flashy passes that failed. Thankfully he tightened his game up (mostly), played hard and adapted by penetrating more to create offense. Miller was unsteady early but did really good work as the game grooved in. Sexton was a plus factor with this unit, and I think is with the starters opening night unless Kon just balls out. Kalk was the surprise of the night. Yes the matchup was better, and he still up gave up open shots, but played solid, set good screens and took care of the rim. Double double!

> RESERVES: Admired how Kon didn’t give up on his poor shooting. He stayed active, made other shots, created openings and played tough D. He also had 5 turnovers. Felt like he was pressing a lot due to competing against Flagg. Also really liked how Dinwiddie ran the reserves offense in the second half. Worked the P&R well, managed the game. Moose was a plus factor, but those ugly free throws.
Also, what happened to Tre? Missed both shots, only played 3 minutes.

> NRFPT (not ready for prime time): Plum was awful. His age and stage is showing. Tiddy works hard but he’s still a YMCA player. Liam was shaky, again, but at least hit a shot. KJ is so likable, and he does some good stuff, but to stay at the next level he has to be more consistent. Pat is destined to be cut and should be.

If Dallas is hitting shots better and not playing sloppy we lose. But it was nice to beat a quality team even if it didn’t count.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Plum did look dreadful tonight. Also missed all of training camp. Eh, center is still a problem. Kalk looked good though, but lively isn’t stretching the floor in the least.

Dittos. Center is a BIG problem. Kalk looked serviceable but he still got exposed on drop coverage…Dallas wasn’t hitting every shot like OKC did. Both Kalk and Moose can play there and do some things, but neither is anywhere close to the answer. Plum looked like his hands had turned to stone as he fumbled the ball a lot. He can’t be THAT bad but he needs to be 3rd string at best on a team.

Kalk 7-7 in this game. First two games he went 4-6 in both games.

If the other team is going to play small ball and try to run him off the floor with shooting and spacing, then we need to get him some touches in the paint.

I guess Tre Mann got hurt…Hornets SI just included some little mention that said “Tre get well soon”. Can’t recall if I saw him turn his ankle a bit or what.

Mann is dealing with right hip soreness and won't return to Saturday's preseason game against the Mavericks, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Every time I watch Salaun play it reminds me of this scene from 21 Jump Street

Spoiler:
I think its safe to say at this point that taking him at #6 was completely unjustifiable. I would say it is in the Kai Jones tier of awful draft picks. He has better intangibles than Kai at least, but he was also taken 13 spots higher.

3 game sample size alert... but so far rebounding is holding up.

I'm rooting for Sexton to get to starting spot next to LaMelo. For right now I think he gives us the best chance to win and has the best chance to unlock the full potential of LaMelo by letting him play more off ball. Sexton can do a lot of what Terry was doing for the offense three years ago when we were good, But with more rim pressure and better defense. kon can come off the bench with mann For now.
