The overwhelming majority of the team is players on rookie contracts, many new to the team. Only 6 of the 20 players on the preseason team have been in the league long enough to get a 2nd contract. Made more sense to practice than to play games. Especially considering the regular season will be treated as practice scrimmages anyway.

The team is leaning in on one more ‘developmental year’ in order to retain the top 8 protected pick we are in danger of losing to the Knicks. As well as the potential pick swap with PHX that we’d lose if we don’t have that top 8 pick. To keep that pick they went young. Building from potential until we draft or develop a star.

So. We basically have a college team. Five 20 yr olds. Three 21 yr olds. Two age 22. Four 24 yr olds, one of whom is our rookie 2nd round pick.

So yeah. They needed school more than live game practice reps.

Nice fanfiction. More like, we're sandbagging. No need to show all our cards so early. Don't need the rest of the league getting tape on Tre Johnson yet. ROY Tre Johnson.

I will say this is the least info and footage we’ve ever gotten out of preseason and training camp. Plus whenever coach Keefe is asked about normal unimportant details he’ll smile and say they’re not going to reveal their secrets. Like, what secrets? You were asked about what your breakfast was today. It’s maddening. The few fans you got left are hungry for info. Give us a morsel.

Do we have to give Ted any $$ to watch this preseason game?

Not for preseason. If you download their monumental (cr)app their preseason games are free.

As we get later into the preseason, teams are starting to bench their starters and only play the backups. OKC just played a game without their entire starting lineup. So even when the Wizards finally hit the floor, they will probably be playing mostly Summer League caliber teams.

But you still have to establish an account I suppose.

Assuming I can actually watch this, I look at this game as a somewhat precarious moment in time
at which we can throw off our first assumptions about our players, both new and old, and actually
see what for several is their first NBA game action. As such, it's also obviously establishes a baseline
for the young players playing their first games. It informs these new players and their fans something
of the road ahead.

For out of town fans, game today is on NBATV. Probably blacked-out in DC...

Read on Twitter
Tsze-Kung asked, "Is there one word which may serve as a rule of practice for all one's life?"

The Master said, "Is not Reciprocity such a word? What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others."

Wow. That's pretty disappointing.

I would like to see Tre start over Bub. I can live with Middleton starting since Bilal is out, but when Bilal is back, I hope both Bilal and Kyshawn start.

I suppose it’s to show some respect to the vets, we will see plenty of Tre and everyone else.

Sarr looks fantastic so far. He is shutting down the paint on D, and rolling hard on offense.

Nobody else looks that good yet.

What kind of party is this game?

A block party.

Kyshawn is bringing it on defense. He is missing all of his shots though.

Bub is a big for a PG.

He looks as big as Kispert.
