Opening Day Pairs Draft - R1 - Dr Positivity vs durantbird*

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

GL durantbird

PG: Gary Payton (1998: 15.6 FGA)
SG: Chris Mullin (1990: 16.3 FGA)
SF: Lebron James (2020: 19.4 FGA)
PF: Shawn Kemp (1996: 11.9 FGA)
C: Kristaps Porzingis (2024: 13.2 FGA)

PG: Pablo Prigioni (2014: 2.9 FGA = 3.0)
SG: Brent Barry (2009: 3.1 FGA)
SF/PF: P.J. Tucker (2018: 5.4 FGA)

87.9 / 88

PG: Gary Payton (38) / Pablo Prigioni (10)
SG: Chris Mullin (36) / Brent Barry (10) / Gary Payton (2)
SF: Lebron James (38) / P.J. Tucker (8) / Chris Mullin (2)
PF: Shawn Kemp (22) / P.J. Tucker (26) /
C: Kristaps Porzingis (32) / Shawn Kemp (16)

Defensive matchups: Payton on Magic, Mullin on Klay, Lebron on Iguodala (some time on Klay), we're going to try Kemp on Moses, Porzingis on Davis.

We have strong starting 5 of all-star caliber talents. Payton and Kemp have their chemistry, Lebron and Kemp should work like Lebron and AD, Mullin should play well off Lebron, Lebron and Payton can have a Lebron/Wade like relationship, Porzingis stretching teams out makes it harder to guard. We have pretty strong defense with our long frontcourt of Lebron-Kemp-Porzingis and Payton at PG. Tucker gives us a more perimeter orientated defensive lineup. We have a great defender against the head of the snake in Payton against Magic while Lebron is relatively rested against Iguodala. Igoudala as his 2nd best shooter is only ok spacing and his playmaking overlaps with Magic. While his bench is better his 3 worst players are Iguodala, Thabo and 23 Hartenstein while mine are Tucker, Prigs and old Barry, he still has the advantage but it's not as huge.

PG: Magic Johnson 85' - 11.7

SF: Andre Iguodala 16' - 5.7
PF: Anthony Davis 20' - 17.7
C: Moses Malone 80' - 18.9

Bench: Jrue Holiday 24' - 10.0
Bench: Thabo Sefolosha 12' - 3.7
Bench: Isaiah Hartenstein 23' - 4.0

87.9/88

Rotation:
PG: Magic Johnson 38 / Jrue Holiday 10
SG: Klay Thompson 28 / Jrue Holiday 20
SF: Andre Iguodala 23 / Thabo Sefolosha 15 / Klay Thompson 10
PF: Anthony Davis 38 / Andre Iguodala 5 / Isaiah Hartenstein 5
C: Moses Malone 38 / Isaiah Hartenstein 10

vs

PG: Gary Payton (38) / Pablo Prigioni (10)
SG: Chris Mullin (36) / Brent Barry (10) / Gary Payton (2)
SF: Lebron James (38) / P.J. Tucker (8) / Chris Mullin (2)
PF: Shawn Kemp (22) / P.J. Tucker (26)
C: Kristaps Porzingis (32) / Shawn Kemp (16)

Matchup
- Defensive assignments straight up: Magic vs Payton, Klay vs Mullin, Iggy vs LeBron, Davis on Kemp, Moses on Porzingis. Holiday off the bench guards Payton/Mullin.
- We got good matchups with Klay, Sefolosha, Iggy as wing defenders for Mullin and LeBron, and Davis also being able to guard LBJ effectively.
- Magic Davis Moses is an imposing trio of three MVP level players, with Magic here to orchestrate a super team, Klay Holiday Iffy Sefolosha and Davis spacing the floor.
- We've got the depth advantage with Holiday off the bench, Iggy as a better glue guy than Tucker, and Sefolosha Hartenstein better contributors than Prigioni and old Barry.
