You don't think he's going to change as a player? I find that an interesting assumption.

This is his 10th season in the NBA, why would he randomly change? lolryan in Maine wrote:You don't think he's going to change as a player? I find that an interesting assumption.

I dont see his scoring going up significantly because i think those opportunities will go more Pritchard and White. They even have Simons that has been a 20 ppg guy in the past.
So i could see Brown average up to 24 ppg
White and Simons around 18 or 19
And Pritchard could be around 17 ppg

This is what I'm thinking as well. JT was shooting around 20 shots a game - I think Brown gets some of those (maybe 5 more? up from ~18) and the rest get soaked up by Simons, White, and PP

Not really though. He will spend a lion's share of his minutes with PP and White, they will handle the ball distribution. The whole team will struggle to rebound this season but that's not going to land square on his shoulders.ryan in Maine wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:This is his 10th season in the NBA, why would he randomly change? lolryan in Maine wrote:You don't think he's going to change as a player? Because his role on the team is literally changing lol.
So until Tatum rushes back in January, to mimic his idol, Brown may have a slight uptick in shot attempts but if he can't hit his free throws and deep balls at a higher clip, i am not sure it'll be the expected scoring explosion.

No, he is too inefficient. He will experience a significant drop in efficiency and likely play around 50 games.

Garza was always very clearly a really good basketball player, with clear limitations on defense that kept him out of the regular rotation. It always struck me as strange that he ended up on Minnesota, a team with an overcrowded frontcourt that was already trying to figure out difficult big man pairings. Anytime he got minutes, he'd immediately produce as a scorer. He was very aware of his defensive limitations, and talked a lot every offseason about how he was working to address them. It always felt like: if he could find some path to being a non-liability on defense, he could easily become a rotation level big.
Minott was more exciting and I think most Wolves fans figured he'd crack the rotation at some point. Spring loaded 6'8" long armed young man with oodles of defensive potential. I think Minnesota would have kept him had he not been leap frogged by Terrence Shannon Jr and Jaylen Clark last year. Those guys being 2/3s instead of 3/4s probably gave them an advantage in opportunity, since Minnesota never needs another 4. He has crazy potential as a defensive disruptor. He guards 2-4 and his motor is awesome. I never saw what his offensive role was supposed to be, outside of transition play and spotting up.

Jaylen Brown is going to have the most efficient scoring season of his career.
No one loses 5 of their top 8 rotation players and then the best dude left becomes more efficient lol defenses will be able to hone in on Brown.
You believe Brown will have a higher TS% than 58.6% and a better A:TO ratio than 1.73?

This is what people leave out. Brown and the Celtics didn't just lose Tatum, they lost 5 of their top 8 rotation players. I'm expecting Jaylen Brown to have a super year but expectations need to be calmed down. Again, Celtics lost 5 of their top 8 guys LOL!!

Thanks!
Yeah I had barely heard of Minott but he's having a great preseason and been a lot of fun. The energy and athleticism is much appreciated, and he's been a menace defensively. Needs to work on his 3pt shot. He's "capable" but perhaps not yet "good" in that regard. Had a nice run last night that got us C's fans excited...
Spoiler:
Garza I thought was going to be a cheerleader as much as anything, but he's smart, can score and grab boards and set screens, and knows how to be in the right place and contribute without making glaring mistakes. He's already kinda doing stuff Kornet did in his role with the C's. I wish he was a little bigger and better defensively, but I think we can get him playing team defense well enough to stay on the floor, especially considering our lack of other bigs. Brad did a nice job getting those two (and Boucher) on minimum contracts.
Also, Garza looks like those statues on Easter Island lol:

I think Minott could be the player we all hoped Jeremy Evans would become. Excited to see that Celtics frontcourt with him and Boucher getting a ton of minutes.

More ppg and assists, less efficient, more TO, worse defense is my prediction compared to last year

Also, Garza looks like those statues on Easter Island lol:
Minott is in the 99th percentile as an NBA athlete for sure. I loved him in the draft, and I had big hopes for him as a T-Wolf. I really hope he can find a role in Boston and find his game. I can't really say where his game is at, because there just wasn't an opportunity for him to play in Minny. If Boston is in a "bridge" year, Minott is the exact kind of player they should be giving an opportunity to. It wouldn't take much for him to become a really nice rotation player.
Garza has good hands on defense, and he's super active and try hard. There's no reason to think he wont be a huge liability on defense though. He has to play the 5 due to his lack of mobility, and his crippling lack of length and hops make him an awful rim protector. He'll be out there for offense, where I think he has more tools than Kornet ever did (but he has never been as useful in a role as Kornet was). Boston has lost 4 of their top 5 defenders and replaced them with minimum contract guys and Anfernee Simons (one of the worst defenders in the league). I don't think this team is going to cover for him. Garza can realistically help run a great team offense, but if he's in your rotation, you're probably bleeding points for big chunks of time. For Boston to be a good defense this year, we'll need to see multiple unproven guys pop as rotation minute strong defenders (Queta, Minott, Walsh, Gonzales?). I expect Boston to close to a bottom 5 defense.
