Legends who were done dirty

Post#1 » by GrindCityHustle » Mon Oct 13, 2025 7:53 pm

This came to mind at first

Also I wonder if Kareem's grumpyness is because the Buss family didn't really like him and didn't give him any significant roles in the organization

As a Grizz fan I felt like we should have signed Penny when he was going to retire. He is by far the best basketball player in Memphis history. I feel his number should have been retired for what he did for Memphis basketball.

Does anyone have any instances of where they felt their franchise did a player wrong

Kareem was grumpy back in the 70's when he had a feud with Wilt. I'm big on Kareem the player but his personality is just naturally abrasive. Which is sort of how Russell was as well but he could be different with teammates. Kareem was aloof to pretty much everyone.

Rick Barry was a dick and has been treated accordingly.

Jerry West. He should have been allowed to stay with the Lakers forever.

Wade with the Heat? Not sure what the Heat offer was, but he got $47 mil/2 years from Bulls.
Would have been nice to see him only wear a Heat jersey.
Wikipedia says "Initially, the Heat offered him a two-year, $20 million contract,[111] before increasing it to a two-year, $40 million offer, both of which Wade felt were unacceptable."

He's gone 1.5 seasons and then came back.

Last Dance kind of makes it seem like MJ, Pippen, and Jackson were sort of done dirty... doesn't it?
Or atleast they didn't get to go out on their own terms.

MJ was a dick who deserved whatever he got, though many continue to give him a pass.

You know I’d say re-signing Blake Griffin then trading him was a dick move. Could have at least facilitated a sign and trade.

This is considered baiting. This is your only warning.

EDIT: Wait...how many warnings do you already have against your record? Wow.

Definitely. Especially after they did a fake jersey retirement ceremony as part of his pitch to re-sign there  :(

Olajuwon should have retired a Rocket gracefully after delivering two titles. After being insanely stingy with payroll throughout his career, they remained stingy till the bitter end even with him. Would have been a good mentor for Steve Francis.
