Bassey had 17 rebounds against Miami.

I wonder why the Cs didn't sign him after summer league.

Why ask that only about the C's?

All 30 NBA teams could have signed him to a standard contract at any point during the long offseason - including the 2 NBA teams he actually played real NBA games for (Spurs and Sixers who drafted him). All 30 teams decided against it.

Yeah, that's fair.

Trust Brad, I guess.

Bassey is not only a superior rebounder to anyone on this year's Celtics, he was a superior rebounder to anyone on last year's Celtics too. Same with shot blocking. That's it with him though. His drawbacks and injury history are real too.

Brad n' Mike want 14 guys at this moment, and you can't blame them. The rest of Bassey's game apparently isn't good enough to give up flexibility. If no one else is acquired later on in the season, he's still a possibility, especially if the rebounding emerges as an unfixable and unholy mess.

Maybe in the not so distant future there will be no more human referees running up and down the court.

It will be all cameras and drones who will be officiating the game.

Brad does a lot right and gets a lot right in this job. But if he has a weakness, it's in how he evaluates bigs I think. He's a bit iffy there. A few have worked out, but he's had some misses on guys he should've pulled the trigger on but didn't.

The thing about Bassey is he's great at rebounding but not a very good defender.
That's what I saw at summer league.

Every time Bassey was switched on to a guard, it was a disaster waiting to happen as Bassey does not move well laterally.

But he was a beast on the boards.

Like Hal said, Brad is not the only one who refuse to give Bassey a regular NBA contract.
In fact, all NBA teams never signed Bassey to a regular contract.

Parliament, I've long felt like yopu're the "Big Al" of this board. Well respected. Even keeled. When you speak people listen. You're not allowed to ever leave. Just want to be clear. Don't you get no ideas.

He is not a very versatile defender or player. Compared to what we have at the position, he is solid.

Over the course of his NBA career, 1.2 steals, 2.8 blocks, and less than six fouls per 36. Problem was, he's been injured a bunch and playing behind Wemby when healthy.

I like his fit on our team in the sense that he would hopefully be interchangeable with Queta, one of the two would hopefully be healthy at all times. But I also get that he is arguably repetitive and underwhelming in a situation where lux tax & aprons are a thing.
