While being a work in progress being dead last in pace is pretty shocking considering that was a point of emphasis.
I got back to this point (which I know you agree with). I think we have to pick either or. I think Brown right now is trying to play the middle ground and try to add proper rim protection while also trying to get the offense to play faster and shoot more 3's.
I just don't see that as viable trying to play two bigs...who don't play fast in KAT and Mitch. You either have to just accept the starters are going to play slow and won't get up a lot of 3's because that is not what they are built for.
Or you need to go smaller and play 5-out. That will certainly take rim protection away from the starters...but the offset would be faster player and more 3pt shots.
I think right now he is trying to play the middle ground which is fine but it won't get us where we need to go in terms of building an identity.

We could play at a faster pace with two bigs if either one of them were allowed to bring the ball up after a rebound. It's how the Thunder/Cavs play fast despite being big.

I think that is a big issue. OG/KAT/Mitch aren't really guys that can get a rebound and go with the ball. So you really only have 2 guys in the lineup you trust bringing up the ball with JB/MIkal.
This is where Hart certainly helped the starters...his ability to get a rebound and go coast to coast was probably the only reason we were 26th in pace last year compared to 32nd.
And now he isn't going to be in the starting lineup. The only other thing that can help with pace is adding in another guard that can help bring the ball up and take one of the bigs off the floor.
Again you will be sacrificing rebounding/rim protection but what are we trying to accomplish here?
Playing two bigs that can't really bring the ball up and OG who really doesn't have adept handle you aren't going to be able to play fast. And we already established because KAT 3 pt shot is really reliant on C&S and not self creation if you have a wing on him you probably aren't going to get KAT a high amount of 3 pt shots.
So you have two pathways. Play the big lineup (slow the pace down) live with the results. And play faster with bench units.
Or
You can't start the two big lineup.
If you want to play the muck it up game with Brunson then a priority should probably to move off KAT because you probably need to go more of the Sixers old iverson builds and just get a bunch of physical grinder types and play great defense and just try to have Brunson bail you out.
KAT simply will get washed out playing the 4...he wont get enough 3 pt shots up and he will probably do more in the post which will be much less efficient offense.
