I like QBR because it at least looks to give credit to dual-threat quarterbacks who can pick up yards with their legs in passing situations and in the designed quarterback run game. However, if you are being objective, there is no way Daniels gets a 69.6 yesterday and Williams 37.2. If you want to say Daniels should have the higher QBR because of completion percentage, total touchdowns (3 vs 2), and a plus 21 in total yards accounted for, I get that. The two critical turnovers should not still have a differential of over 30 between the two. The math ain't mathin.
Losing to get high draft picks and hoping they turn into franchise players is not some next level, genius move. That's what teams want to happen in any rebuild/tank or whatever you want to market it as.

I’m officially comfortable saying we should be favorites in all our games, except the ravens game, leading up to the rematch against the Vikings. I can definitely see ourselves winning 6 of 7 going into that game and maybe all 7. And im not so sure the Vikings are better. We should’ve beat them week one. Either way, the Vikings game is where the gauntlet starts. After that, we’re probably favorites against the browns. Maybe against the 49ers, depending on their health. I think we need to win at least three of those games to be in contention for the playoffs. And that would be after going into the Vikings game 6-3

I don't understand why a TD pass figures into these ratings. What if you throw a 65 yard pass, he gets tackled at the 1, and then your RB runs it in? Or if you're at the 1 yard line, and you throw a little pass for the TD? Why should that be a measure of how good the QB is?

A few things the Bears need to work on:

- kick return coverage was poor
- 2 point conversions these past two games were terrible- didn't look even close
- still aren't using TE's much in the passing game

I'm not sure the Ravens will be favored. They're terrible.

DJ apparently spent the night in the hospital for observation. No word on the nature of his injury.

One thing that was much better last night- I don't think the O line had a single holding call all game. And only one false start (by Benedet).

Do you think the Bears have found their starting LT? He looked pretty good last night.

Benedet call was offside IIRC, and the announcers thought it was a very questionable (but unfortunate) call.

Williams definitely seems to be getting more time than last season...which he definitely needs because IMO his reads and progressions are below average speed-wise.

Their issue was defense, which played significantly better against the rams. Their offense will only be bad if Lamar isn’t playing and he’s expected to play against us. Only way I see them being bad on offense is if Lamar is rusty. But you still have Henry to stop and we are not good at that.

I’ve been extremely impressed by Benedet the past too games. The only thing that gives me pause is that he’s undrafted. We’ve been burned too many times by late round LTs for me to be confident. At the very least, I want to see him hold up for the rest of the season. If can play like this all year, I’d be comfortable going into next season as the starter

Maybe the best thing from last night is that Wright could have possibly had his best game yet. I don’t think he had any penalties and blocked at an elite level. We saw him out in space doing the things that got me excited after drafting him. I don’t think I saw him doing the stuff he did yesterday since watching his Tennessee tape that draft night.

Our ol is starting to shape up

At this point I really think the only thing keeping us from being a top notch offense is Williams inconsistency when it comes to making basic reads and throws. He gets that settled and I think we have top 10 offense potential.

On defense our pass rush still isn’t good enough. A change needs to be made. I would wait until the deadline to make a move for someone like Simmons or Henderson so we can get a good idea of where the team is.

If we are comped and have a legit shot at making the playoffs, then I would pull the trigger and a move like that (assuming the compensation is reasonable).

Looked like he was having back issues during the game.

Noah Sewell left with a concussion too. Hope he's alright.

Based on what the trainers were having him do on the sidelines, the fact he was on the field run blocking for the final drive, and the timing I think its something internal. In my college ball days I saw guys go the hospital after finishing a game twice:

1. After a game one of our LBers "coinpurse" had significant swelling that he noticed in the showers. Finished the game fine but they sent him to the campus clinic to get checked/be safe. Ended up being a non issue and he played in the next game.

2. We had a tight end that took a nasty shot to the lower back, he came out and was in pain but was able to go back in and finish the game. The trainers had him doing the weird squat thing that DJ was doing on the sideline. He apparently saw blood in his pee after words and they rushed him to the ER. He had to miss a few games although its been 20 years and i dont remember how many he ended up missing.

i think the realistic best case scenario for benedet is that he shows you enough that you're comfortable not *forcing* yourself to pick an LT early next year or add one via free agency.

probably not going to feel particularly confident about him as a long-term fix, but if he can do a passable job then it frees you up to prioritize more pressing needs in the offseason (while still having the flexibility to go after an LT if the opportunity presents itself)

With Theo starting at LT, that is 4 our of 5 new starters from last season. Too bad one of the guys traded for (JJ) is kinda suspect.

PFF gave Caleb the worst rating of all starting QBs...even worse than negative net passing yards JF.

Before the season started I said it's going to take sometime before the Bears offense takes off mainly Caleb. The kid needs some seasoning he had a clean game look at Jayden last night he also needs some seasoning three in the row I will take it .

So frustrating he’s not good at basic passes. Once he gets over that, we will have a legit offense.

Defensively, we need to get better at forcing three and outs. Seems like it’s either a turnover or the other team scores, the majority of the time

Caleb is going to need some seasoning. He throws the ball too hard a lot of times, and just misses guys. Contrasted to Daniels, who looks so poised and calm in the pocket, even when there's pressure. He's so smooth. But I think Caleb does have an extra level. If they just correct the mistakes, and he settles down a little, he could be awesome.

Yet Daniels turnovers pretty much cost them the game .

PFF gave Caleb the worst rating of all starting QBs...even worse than negative net passing yards JF.

To my eyes Caleb looked pretty bad last night, but not as bad as Fields. PFF probably gave him such a low rating because he had a multitude of turnover worthy throws and several throws into double coverage. Caleb is still very jittery in the pocket and wildly inaccurate. He had a totally clean pocket on the fourth down try and all the time in the world to throw, but still rushed it and didn't see the linebacker directly between he and Odunze. He plays shorter than what he is and has multiple passes per game batted down because he is seemingly unaware of his passing lanes. He freaks and bails early from the pocket and has only completed one pass all year rolling to his right. That being said, the kid has a great arm and apparently has a lot of self confidence. Waiting desperately for it all to click.

Yea thats the problem Caleb still just isn't a very good QB. Anyone that says they wouldn't take Daniels in a do-over is a liar. I honestly think this offense would be better if Bagent was starting. He knows how to hit guys when they're open. Caleb is really bad at that. Look at the 2 pt conversion attempt when Aikman showed in the graphic that he had Monangai wide open for an easy catch, yet didn't throw it to him. Even in that final drive in his completion to Loveland, i noticed on the replay that someone else was a good 5-6 yards deeper behind Loveland that was also open. He leaves yards on the table ALOT.
