I’d rather keep Giannis the next two seasons for some fun basketball even if he retired or walks

I would not be eager, but I think the idea is that if Giannis forces out to the knicks and we can't work a 3rd team into the deal to actually get picks, that's not a bad trade value wise to stay competitive since we can't really tank anyways.

So far I haven’t heard anything compelling me to believe Giannis is forcing his way out. If he starts moping like Dame then I’ll believe it. I think this team is going to quickly demonstrate it’s much more than a play-in quality contender in the East. This is a weak conference with two mentally soft contenders at the top (New York and Cleveland) and some completely unproven teams like Detroit, Orlando, and Atlanta in the mix. You go for it this year by converting Kuzma + whatever it takes to get a playoff contributing wing

Sounds like he talked about it in that Greek 2night Show episode which EuroHoops summarized as "the recent reports about his wife and children moving to Athens are not true".

Agreed it'd be great to have a translated version of what exactly was said to be sure.

I understand that the offseason news cupboard is a barren wasteland but how to Bucks fans continually fall for it? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me five times in twelve years, shame on me.

Giannis Antetokounmpo gave his first interview in a non sports media in Greece and once again repeated that he envisioned himself closing his career on his native country.

Giannis spoke on the “2night show”, a Greek copycat of US late night shows, and he was again very specific about the end of his career.

As he said: “I’m 30 years old, I can play in the NBA until I’m 36-38. I would like to end my career with a Greek team, why not. I don’t want to live in America. As soon as I leave the NBA, I want to return to Greece. I could end my career here, whether this team is called Filathlitikos, or Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, Aris, I’m talking about all the teams now.”

Giannis also talked about his desire to raise his family in Greece – even though the recent reports about his wife and children moving to Athens are not true – and talked about his family and wife, Mariah.

All that angst. Just wasted.

This time was especially bad.

Reports at the end of the season..... Meh

Reports before FA.... Shams sucks

Reports befire draft..... Shams really suck lol Giannis mocked him

Reports after the draft..... damn Shams really needs help

Reports a week before the season starts..... OMG trade him now

Now had any information in any of the reports changed I might be more understanding of some people's fear out but damn. If people ever want to understand why the media will keep shoveling **** untill people start eating it up the last week of this board is a case study

Do we at least feel differently now that the prosecution's smoking gun (family to Greece) turned out to be a moldy banana?

Did Giannis actually refute the Mariah to Greece report? This seems like it's just this Eurohoops article coming up with that assumption. No actual quote from him.

Has the defense been able to refute Mariah's sister's IG post about her too moving to Greece?

I love this board for the simple fact there will be 25 pages of discourse on Giannis moving his family to Greece, or not. Its not quite the Thon yearbook saga but its been good stuff.

Just imagine if Alex Lasry were still around.

"You jeeps think he's moved the family to Greece?!? Here is a photo of Mariah and I eating at Carnevor last night (mic drop)!"

And somehow the Bucks draft board is behind them only half blurred.

Ok. So. There is that EuroHoops translation from The 2Night Show.

But my mom is friends with the grandmother of a student at USM who's been classmates with Giannis' kids.

And, while my mother does not consider herself to be an insider, after a significant amount of prodding she is able to report:

Well I just found out that his family stayed in Greece to go to school. The kids were bummed cause the family was so nice!!!

Not feeling great about it. But RealGM points at least?!

My brother season's tix are right behind the spouses section. Mariah used to sit directly in front of him.

I sat behind her on one of my visits to Milwaukee, but it was pre 2021 finals.

Edit:
But come to think of it, he said she moved her seats a couple seasons ago, he told doesn't see her anymore.

Possible insider knowledge goes out the window.

Kurt Helin at PBT picking Giannis to win MVP:

https://www.nbcsports.com/nba/news/nba-season-2025-26-preview-award-winners-odds-predictions

MVP Prediction: Giannis Antetokounmpo

It’s weird that picking a two-time winner of the award, one of the top five players in the world, a player still in his prime, is somehow a bold choice for MVP, but here we are.

There are good reasons others are favorited: Nikola Jokic is the best player on the planet, averaged a triple-double last season, and has more help around him this season; Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won last season, is just entering his prime while playing for the heavy favorite to have the best record in the NBA again; Luka Doncic is in the best shape of his career and is playing with a chip on his shoulder in a glamour market.

Give me Giannis Antetokounmpo.

It’s not just the stats — 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists a game last season — paired with elite defense, it’s also the fact that with Damian Lillard waived and back in Portland, there isn’t another high-level shot creator on the roster. It all falls on Antetokounmpo, who has to do more. That said, he’s likely got to get the Bucks in the top four in the East to win this.

There will be a cloud over Antetokounmpo and the Bucks all season after his comments about reassessing his situation next summer. He and the franchise have dealt with it before, and if anything, it will light a fire under him — if (a big “if”) he leaves Milwaukee, he’s going to want to do so having given it his best, to say he tried everything. He’s motivated to have a monster season. An MVP season.
