Just do Monk for Rui? Kings add a PF with size and range and move Keegan to the 3. Lakers add a backup for PG/SG positions

Front court scoring and shooting pairs well with their roster. I think he is a much better fit in the role Kerr is asking Kuminga to fill.

Hunter has been a higher-volume 3-pt shooter past couple years, and good percentages. His defense is a bit on the middling side, with a career DBPM of -1.3 and a STEAL% of 1.4. I'm not sure if he is a good enough upgrade over Rui to warrant the increased payroll for next season.jbk1234 wrote:Maybe Hunter around the deadline if Tyson or Strus lool like they can handle the starting SF position.
Cavs would definitely not trade Hunter for Rui but I can totally see them trading Strus and Wade for him if they ever get under the 1st apron

Lakers just have too many power forward sized players right now, and need defense and athleticism in the backcourt. I'm not asking for anything in particular. Just trying to see what his value is according to people on RealGM.
Ive always liked Rui, and ive seen him as a fringe starter in the league, maybe better suited as a 6th man off the bench. I was caught off guard a bit though with words like "great" and "one of the best" in this bio. Not a bad selling technique, but most NBA gm's will see through that. The most attractive part of Rui im afraid is that he is an expiring contract. If the Lakers trade him. it will be to take on long term money from a player slightly better than him.

Some say Rui for Monk is fair, but it's not, Lakers lose size and Lakers can't lose any Size, they're in the tough West as well
Gabe/Maxi for Monk is more ideal.
Kings have interest in signing Westbrook, but want to get roster spot open for guard, so most likely Monk.
Kings can waive either player maybe Gabe keep
Maxi? Open roster spot for Westbrook.
Lakers get consistent scorer off the bench and an open roster spot/ RJ Davis?

I understand Lakers cant lose size, but that doesnt mean Kings will take 2 players to buyout for a rotational player in a decent contract.
I'd argue that since Rui is expiring, Monk definitely is worth more in value. If you can find a big guy in a bad contract, you can get him for Maxi and Vincent, while trading Rui for Monk, otherwise, can't see this happening at all

Ideal for who? Certainly not the Kings. If the extent of what the Kings could get back for Monk is expiring salary filler then they are much better off keeping him -- if they are trying to field a competitive team this year. If they just want to dump his deal, I guess?
Maxi has played 128 games total over the past 3 years, including the playoffs. You just cant count on him to play any type of role at this point. Whatever you get above 0 is a bonus. Gabe is, at best, a replacement level player at this point.

Not a fan of either team - but value wise, Monk for Rui feels fair to me.
Gabe/Maxi for Monk is nowhere near a fair trade. Lakers would owe a LOT of value here.

A lotta Pistons fans would probably hate it, but I'd do Jaden Ivey and Bobbi Klintman for Rui.

Re: Who wants Rui Hachimura?
I think Lakers do it, in order to maximize Rui and Lebron. Ayton is not the defensive center to cover Luka and Reave's defensive deficiencies. So the Lakers need to try and create a defense by committee by various players, if they are going to stick with Reaves and Ayton. The first defender needs to be that 5th starter, and most of the second unit needs to be defenders. Royce is still a solid defender, and could fill that 5th starter spot, or come off the bench. Richards might be a marginal upgrade to Hayes at back up 5. Although, Koloko would still be the best defensive center on the team imo, so Lakers might not even need Richards, but I understand it makes the salaries work.jredsaz wrote:SlimShady83 wrote:scoobs07 wrote: I would do that trade for sure. Royce is older but is more of a pure 3, and his offense is primarily three point shooting, which is all the Lakers need.
You don't substitute an older guy for a younger guy, esp when you have like the oldest guy in the leauge and an incoming MVP Luka
I think the issue here for the Lakers is the long term salary. Royce has two years left after this season and the Lakers are targeting Giannis/Joker in the Summer of ‘27.

Yeah. I think Ivey has to hold more value but I’m not sure he the target for the Lakers either. They want a good defense first wing I would assume and Klintman doesn’t meet that standard

* Sorry man saw this earlier, just been busy. Work and life sometimes crazy.
None the less, I think we can do better then Royce for Rui other have even suggested Monk for Rui ... If i'm doing either the other team Kings/Suns need to throw in draft capital Kings probably a First IMO or at least a couple 2nd's and the same for Royce. I just think Lakers will do better at trading Rui then some think whether a blockbuster trade of even a smaller trade.
I'd rather go make a trade for Robert Williams and Thybulle get them then get an older guy in Royce, If Royce was younger sure, but not looking for older guys IMO, someone mentioned Wiggins though that's just a perfect fit for what Lakers need so yeh wouldn't blame them, but from what I remember from thread I did a while go, Heat wanted a FRP for wiggins, Lakers weren't willing to do so?

I'd rather sell high on Ivey now than get a Collin Sexton like return on him down the road.
