He is listed at 205 lbs. He isn't a PF. Boucher weighs 200 lbs, and some people here had him playing center. There will be times where Boston goes two forwards Minott and Brown or Minott and Hauser or Minott and Hugo. Still won't make him a PF. Boston can have a lineup of Brown, Hugo, Minott, Hauser and Baylor out there at the same time, and none of them with be a Center or a PF.

Boucher passes as a 200lb PF, Minott can pass as a 205lb PF.

Boucher started at center for us the other night. Boucher plays PF and C. Minott plays PF and SF.

Prichard can start at center too, that doesn't make him a center. Again, some of guys are hung up on traditional positions. Like I said earlier in this thread, there is no rule in the NBA that says you can't roll out 5 guards to start the game. Joe can go with Prichard, Simons, White, Brown and Shulga. And that doesn't make Brown a center or White a PF.

C'mon now. That disingenuous, comparing Pritchard (a little guard who can't even dunk) playing center to Boucher (a 6'11" guy with a 7'4" wingspan who has toggled between PF and C throughout his 8 year career) playing center.

I've seen Pritchard dunk

I'm in agreement. Could continue to improve, but I hope they have a better plan to use him than they did Brissett. The 3 point shot should be ancillary. Garza's the 3pt shot we should be obsessed to know about as if he can qualify as stretchy, it so opens a lane for Minott to operate in the offense.

I don't think it's that deep. I think it was just meant to show evidence of someone continuing to work on their game to improve. If he can get that shot to 35-36% it's gonna make his drive game that much more effective. I don't think anyone has any illusions of him turning into Hauser out there.

I am a little more optimistic. I think it means he will shoot 60% from the corner this season.

It really seems like Boston likes him a lot, has a plan for him, etc.

He was 45th pick in 2022 draft, 8 picks before we took JD.

I feel like we probably scouted him a bit that year and would have maybe taken him instead of JD if he was still there. Especially since that was a year before we drafted a similar player - Walsh.

Minott is going to play plenty of minutes if he keeps playing this well. He will take some of Hauser's minutes.

Absolutely. Seems he could be a long term piece. We obviously need to see how he performs this year and what it will cost to resign him but....

I've felt for a while the Celtics needed someone to defend wings to take the burden off of Tatum and Brown. Minott could be that guy.

I've always favored playing bigger and like the idea of Brown at the 2, Minott at 3, Tatum at 4. For this lineup to work Minott needs to prove he can shoot the 3 at a somewhat reasonable rate and/or you need a center who can stretch the floor.

Minott has played so few minutes in his career you can't really put too much into his stats. I am very curious to see how he rebounds the ball and how he shoots from 3. If he can do those things we have a very useful player.

He is reminding me of a Herb Jones type of player.

Honestly, if he can mature this season he is a really nice piece to have.

Wolves fan here. I am wondering how Josh did in the preseason and whether his defensive awareness in your scheme has improved? I am a Josh Minott fan and did not want us to let him go. We did so because he needed minutes to develop and had no opportunity for them with us. I think he will do quite well for you guys. Thank you in advance for your reply.

Minott looked surprisingly good on both ends, but particularly on defense. He fills a need on a roster with few real 4s, and has played himself into the rotation with his strong preseason. He injected a lot of energy and may be a find for the Celtics.

I’ve found it odd that the narrative from the T wolves was that he had issues with defense. I guess there were some obvious instances of missed rotations etc, that must stick in the minds of the fans, but the numbers point to him being a solid defender, with exceptional upside. D White even makes a mistake now and then. Glad he is here and he looks like a great find so far. Excited to see how he fairs in real games. Yeah he looks like a definite rotation piece at this point.

Again I am a Minott fan and disagreed with the narrative. That said, his individual defense wasn’t the issue a lot of our fans had with him. The issue was he would be out of place in the defensive scheme. This led to some back door cuts and open corner 3s. Personally I think a lot of that was lack of playing time and being bullied by a head coach who really doesn’t like dealing with or developing young players. I always saw a bit of a Jarred Vanderbilt in Minott. His motor and length allow him to recover when defending against smaller and quicker guards. I think in the end he will be a hybrid of Vanderbilt and McDaniels.

Not sure it came down to these two guys, but between either signing Nigel Hayes Davis or Minott as an additional wing, I am glad the Celtics front office went with the more athletic player.
