How many wins this year?

Post#1 » by jmr07019 » Wed Oct 15, 2025 4:35 pm

The season is 1 week away  How do you feel about the upcoming season? Has the preseason play changed your opinion at all or is it fools gold?

The preseason has me much higher on Josh Minott than I was before it started. Hugo also looks more ready than I anticipated. I think that's good for a few more wins. Before I was thinking we would be around .500 but now I'm going 44-46

I went 44-46 - slightly above .500. I think we treat water for a lot of the year, probably get beat up a decent amount by the Western Conference teams but hold our own vs. the Eastern ones.

44 wins last year was the #6 seed in the East so I think that should be a good goal. You never know, maybe JT does come back in March and make it more interesting. If I'm the Knicks, Cavs, Magic, etc. I wouldn't want to face us as a first round match-up (with JT, however rusty he is)

I'm also expecting close to 50 if they stay reasonably healthy. An injury to Brown, White or Pritchard could derail the season, but if they can each play 70 games, I'm not impressed with the rest of the East.

Always room for disagreement, that's part of the fun.

What do you expect from the offense? Would you agree that a good offense could carry a team in the regular season even if they were weaker defensively?

Somewhere between 35-55. It a pretty high variance season.
Brown and White healthy all season and play in most of the games? Do the new guys shine or not. Does Tatum come back? Is there a trade that makes them better…. Or focus on ducking the tax? Will Queta progress etc.

I could see over 50 wins if they start strong, stay healthy and lots of things go right. A key injury or two, out of contention early…I could see the losses pile up.

Yes and they could get to 45 wins if they just play so much harder than other teams.

People are sleeping on how bad this team is going to be defensively imo, that's why I'm out on them. I think this team has an above-average offense and baddddddd defense

If Queta struggles with foul trouble (or just struggles) the defense is in serious trouble. Then it's either Garza Tillman or Boucher at center. And it's not like we have a proven starting caliber PF either. I'm excited about Minott but he's not proven.

I would definitely be surprised if the Celtics only won 33 games but I've been surprised plenty of times before lol

If this team were in the West, they'd be out of the play-in without question to me. You can't win with this front court.

I'm not a believer whatsoever in Queta or Garza, I like Boucher but he's one guy. Tillman seems to be healthy but obviously he's not much of an offensive player.

If this team wins enough games to make the playoffs, imo it's because 1. Their offense is great and 2. It makes up for their defense being so awful. But imo they're going to be like the Paul Westhead Denver Nuggets, every game is going to be 130-120

41 wins +/- based on health / bigs.
If any of the top 3 miss significant time, it's gonna be real hard to have a winning record.
If Queta and Garza make big leaps, the wins could pile up.

Unfortunately, the chances of the first happening is probably a little higher than the 2nd. Rooting for the 2nd, though.

It was still pre season but yesterdays game against a **** team with high hopes put it perspective a bit. We are better than that team. Maybe significantly better with Brown, but probably just in the next tier up. 5-7 seed. Not a contender without Tatum and improving the center position. I liked the contributions from Queta, Tillman and Garza though, but none a starting tier bigs. Queta could get there maybe.

40-42 games and a play in team.

They may have one of the worst front courts in NBA history. As with any NBA team you have to expect JB, White and Simons will miss games with injury. The also may give up 120 points per game.

I went with 44-46 wins but our depth isn't what it was last season so pre-JT coming back we are an injury or 2 away from being pretty bad. Reasonably healthy in a pretty bad east I don't see how this team can be less than .500 though.

I went 47-49.

This team will surprise the pro-tank crowd.

Honestly the Celtics probably have the highest variance in the NBA with Tatum returning sooner rather than later. But it's clear if one of White or Brown go down for any significant time, this team is cooked. I'll say 45-37 and the 5th seed. Very slow start but they gain momentum make a slick trade and get Tatum back to finish the season strong.

41, give or take a few.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)
