Joe is taking over now.
He was content to let the star players run the show the last 3 seasons.
Now we're seeing a more assertive Joe.

Preseason is too short, and not involved enough. That's one reason why we have so many injuries.
We went from 8 Preseason Games, down to 4. We should have went up, to 12.
Also the math is off. We now have a full G League that we should be focused on. To this End.:
1) The Draft should be at least 3 Rounds, with the latter rounds focused on Drafting Two-Ways.
2) Training Camp Rosters should be 25 Players.
3) Move up to 8 x Exhibit 10's at a time.
4) We should have 5-6 Affiliate Players on our G League Teams.
5) Go up to 5 x Two-Way Contracts. And add some Financial Security. = If they get Waived, they keep Half their Salary.
6) Add 2 weeks to the duration of Camp.

I like # 5, and maybe #3. But, 25 training camp guys spreads the coaches too thin, imo. Not sure what #4 is vs a 2-way?

Thanks for the response.
2) 25 Training Camp Players is actually just right. Bringing it more in line with the other Major Sports' Preseasons.
4) "Affiliates" are another Tier in the G League to NBA hierarchy. It's up to 4 x Exhibit-10's that are Waived from TC.

OK, got ya, thanks. I would think you'd want the same number of Affiliates and Exhibit 10s, then right? Maybe 5 of those, 5 2-ways? That's the bulk of your roster, while still giving players some flexibility to find the right G-league spot to go to if they're not one of those 10.

I think the NBA just wants to lessen the chance of injuries happening in meaningless games.
That's why the short preseason.

Yeah. But, it's counter-productive. It's too fast to go from not playing, to NBA speed. There's gotta be a better lead-up.
Also, the Stars don't have to play as much. As, we want to develop our fringe Players, too. That's why the G League.

It's ridiculously low. It's less than 5% of the Regular Season.

IDK, the main guys don't even play much in the 4 games as is. Adding more games wouldn't help them ramp up any better, imo.
And, the G-league guys got G-league to develop in, no need to have the full time guys just sit around more games and watch them.

I'd say (going with 25) up to.:
8 x Exhibit 10's
5 x Two-Ways.
That would leave 12 for Regular NBA Contracts.
A lot of Teams have more Ex-10's than they need; perhaps due to many factors.
Ex-10's get their Bonus Pay, if they stay on the G League Team for 60 days.

Many people, including NBA Coaches, believe that the reduced Practice Time, leads to more Injuries.
Also IMO, the G League needs to be more integrated into the NBA, not less.
But, looks like we're better Agreeing to Disagree?

Yep to the last part, all good. I even agree on the injuries related to less practice. But that doesn't necessarily mean more pre-season games. The main guys would just sit out the earlier ones and only end up playing 2-3 like they do now anyways.
Maybe add a week to camp or something or spread out / reduce games in season to allow more practice time during the year, etc. 2-4 more preseason games that they don't really play in isn't going to really make a dent in the injury landscape, imo.

We're down to 20-Men on the Off-Season Roster.
Gives them time to add some other Ex-10's, in case the 1st few don't stay the requisite 60-Days, as Affiliates on the Maine Celtics.

Or, they want to be able to charge full price for everything to do with every game the players agree to play.

Sounds good. Seems like we're thinking in the same ballpark. I mean, at one point, there wasn't a G League at all.
Looks like we're slowing moving toward a more realistic Minor League.
I'm just in the Camp of pushing it further ahead.

Agreed. I think that it's more about the money, for the Owners.
Also, the Past NBPA Leadership was more into pretty much the same thing, and not the Minor League status.
This time around, the NBPA President played in the G League, and was Undrafted.
Hopefully future CBA's will do better not just for the Regular NBA, but for Two-Ways, Affiliates and even Regular G League Players.
Time will tell.

Most of the Celtics were already preparing for the season as early as August and September.
So I think individually the players are already in good shape heading into training camp.
NFL also shortened their preseason.
As a fan, I had enough preseason games after the Cs lost to Toronto.
I want the real thing now.

I can see it for the NFL. They used to have 16 Regular Season Games, and 4 Preseason Games. That's 25%.
If the the NBA was on that level, we would be having 20 Preseason Games. IJS
But, almost time for the Real NBA. A week from today for the C's!!!
