If your PG can’t break down the D then they better be good at playmaking and/or defence and well IQ doesn’t do those things well either. He’s a 6’3 shooter. He’s really a bench player on a contender.

Yea, a high volume 3 point guy had a poor shooting night. This is the same **** yall complained about Lowry and FVV to.

I don’t know why “most of his scoring has come from the FT line” is a big deal. Being able to take 8 FTs a night is a great thing, not a bad one.

This board just sucks at evaluating point guard play, especially high volume 3 point guys.

So I am not allowed to bring up that this board struggles with evaluating high volume 3 point guards? Simply saying "FVV" is enough to trigger you? I also didn't "throw them in with Lowry". I simply stated we've seen the same complaints regarding PGs and shooting for a decade (and so far, this board is 0/2 on that front).

People used to absolutely CRAP on Lowry whenever he would have an off-night from 3, him winning a ring here really shut up all the idiots (never forget, we had a "trade Lowry for Conley?" thread in the championship year at the DEADLINE). Then they did the same thing with FVV. Now it appears it will happen with IQ as well.

The guy put up 14/4/6 tonight on a horrible shooting night. If he even shot his career average from 3 (which he will over a larger sample), that would put tonight closer to a 20/4/6 night with 1 turnover. An absolutely fine performance from your point guard in 30 mins. He will have more 14 point games with 1 3 pointer hit, and he will have 35 point games with 7 of em hit. That is the life of a guy who takes 8+ 3's a night. Sometimes you hit 0, 1, or 2. Sometimes you hit 5, 6, or 7.

He is far from bad at those things. He protects the hell out of the ball, and his defence is not nearly as bad as some people on here make it out to be. He is far from elite in those areas, but he is above average at both IMO. Combine that with being a great shooter, and that is a perfectly fine 3rd fiddle in your starting lineup.
