while Scottie was at least doing what everyone has wanted in terms of making his attempts at the rim…he was doing it while actively trying to avoid any sort of contact, resulting in really weak attempts
as big as he is, he’s at his best when he’s making those attempts while inviting contact, bodying smaller defenders
feel he’s just actively avoiding contact due to it being preseason while also being a bit rusty

Barnes really should be bullying people. He's got the wrong mindset.

The guys look happy. There was a big celebration for O.Sarr's game winner. That's on Darko. At this point I think it's fair to say he is expected to win. And continue to develop. He's on the clock. They all are MU was canned. That's how these things go.
So lets see how he does. How he responds. Let's be real Darko has some serious challenges. SMitch: couch couch shots cough shooters!
I'm talking about the development. I'd argue he's not doing that either. It's been three years with questionable returns.
Perhaps. I am saying the returns are now being requested. But they were not being requested previously. The Raptors purposefully sat players. Coaches don't do that. Darko doesn't make many of his decisions if his outcomes were solely being based on wins. That's not a realistic position to take. But now It's a new direction. It's intriguing this season from that perspective.

To add insult to injury, other players are using his contract as an example of why they should get the bag. I had high hopes for him and still have it but the roster construction is not doing him any favors
Suggs got 5 years 150m in the same offseason. The market is what it is, sometimes these things just come down to some luck in how the timing works out.
Suggs was a 17,4,4 per 36 minutes and more importantly he was coming off an all NBA defensive team. Plus they got him on a declining contract. Even then a lot of people said he was overpaid but it looks like he’s worth his money since Orlando completely collapsed when he was injured last year. I have no idea who exactly we were bidding against for Quickley.

I'm not as knowledgeable about basketball as most posters but I think the Raptors should lean into RJ more as a core player than the steady drumbeat of trying to trade/dump him - I'm expecting RJ to be the Raptor's best player until the team trades him at the deadline and will live to regret that decision.

For me, it was the stupidity of not letting him go to the RFA market last year and seeing what the market was saying - $25m per was the maximum I would have paid and it was known that very few teams had money this last offseason if he did decide to become a FA - the Raptors seem to perennially be bidding against themselves.

I know a lot of posters are going to rag on Scottie right now, and I, too, am disappointed in his play offensively, but I'm wondering what's going on with him? I love the fact that we have a go-to scorer like B.I., and that takes the burden off of Scottie, but you would think that would allow him to play more freely. The issue is he's not converting. The game of basketball is all about conversion and consistency. The best players in the league convert playmaking opportunities more often than those who aren't regarded as highly, and they do it nightly. If Scottie wants to truly turn the next page, he'll have to figure that out for himself, but the peaks and valleys of his career should start to average out somewhere soon. Just want him to succeed, as that will further help the Raptors to succeed.

You don't get paid off PER 36 stats otherwise Montrezl Harrell would have been a near Max player. Also, he had one good year and 2 years where it looked like he might be a fringe NBA rotation player so it's pretty hard to gauge someone like that's value.

barnes doesn’t have the wrong mindset he has a limited skillset. You guys have been talking about tje wrong **** things year after year. I said this before if Barnes was on another team you guys would be the first person **** on him calling him overrated. It’s like because he’s on the home team fans refuse to be objective.bballsparkin wrote:Harcore Fenton Mun wrote:Barnes really should be bullying people. He's got the wrong mindset.

Most of those deals where we "outbid" ourselves worked out pretty well didn't they?
