Somehow he's getting paid the same AAV as Trey Murphy and even got an additional year on top.

In comparsion, Jaden McDaniels got a 5 year, 136 Million extension while being 2 years younger and a better defender with more upside at the point of the extension. Rui Hachimura signed a 3 year, 51 Million extension as a pretty similar player production wise while also being younger at the time he signed the contract.

With McDaniels the Wolves anticipated contending soon. I don't know if they had had their breakout season in Ant's second or third year yet.

So the big salaries which they gave out were justified because the Wolves were in the window.

The expectations for the Kings is play-in maybe but they have so many players earning big money now.

Kings have a ton of money invested in a team that isn’t all that good.

A series of trades and overpays that can all sorta be justified or at least rationalized individually, but when you step back and look at the roster and salaries it’s untenable.

This is the kind of deal, that warps contracts around the league. Owner of the Kings is an absolute moron.

Good grief.

Every time a young player signs, it makes me greatful for Herb Jones and Trey Murphy contracts.

Murphy and Jabari are likely what Keegan’s deal is based on. He is a much better defender than Murphy.

This contract is meh. It’s not great for Ssc but it’s not terrible. Five years from now what’s a prime Keegan worth with a rising cap?

The real gripe I can see is the fifth year…but that depends on perspective. It could turn out a bargain.

People are doing too much looking at other Sac contracts. Those weren’t signed or traded for by this GM and won’t be around long term. DDR is an expiring and Lavine becomes a massive expiring next year. Christie and Perry want a defensive team, locking up Keegan is step one in that direction. Let’s see what comes next.

But Murphy is a much better basketball player than both of them. Which is why I’m grateful lol.

This is too much for the player he is now, especially since he is already 25.

Right now, I have him as like an MLE level player. Solid rotation guy, should see some improvement but I am not expecting much, unless something changes. That is not a 30m per year player.

This is the type of player you should let go to restricted free agency, and leverage that mechanism to let the market set the rate.

Very disappointed in the Kings player evaluation....Lavine, Derozan, Murray, Kuminga...why do they keep trying to overpay all these meh players.

Miami just signed Nikola Jovic to a 4 year 62.4 mill contract. I'd say they are comparable statistically, though advanced stats favour Nikola, and he is 3 years younger (Nikola is now the age Keegan entered the NBA at).

In fairness, I have not seen much of Keegan but that seems like a lot by comparison.

lol. MLE?

People are looking at offensive stats who aren’t watching him play.

It was going to be between 22-30 per. 25-27 was the likely landing place. Keegan did a bit better than that. Good for him. This is what big defensive wings who can shoot and are in their prime cost. Welcome to the NBA in 2025. It is what it is.

such a Kings thing to do. Extremely overrated and not worth anywhere near that money. Legit one of the worst run organizations in all of sports

Murphy also misses like 25 games a season. Makes sense why he settled for less.

I have a feeling the kings are going big game hunting and will use him as a trade chip. Keegan for Vuc at the deadline

Some really good pieces in place if Zion ever gets it together.

he shot the 3 good as a rookie but has been average since, and his bag of tricks ends right there, he has no other consistent ball skills

Hey, if you are good with the deal and the King's trajectory, then I am happy for you.

If I were a Kings fan, I would absolutely hate this.

Most Kings fans like Murray. More players like Murray and we’d be happy.

It could work out if they actually let him do things on offense. I have no idea how they watched him at Iowa and said we need to stick this guy in the corner. He's capable of more, but they don't seem to interested in letting him expand his game.

I don't get it. Kings must still be paranoid about players not wanting to play there.
