You don't understand why the team led by a point guard who can't play 40 games would want to stock up on vets who can fill in at pg as opposed to playing gleague level pgs?

maybe. but competition is good. make kj beat him out.
spencer is on a 1 yea vet minl deal. its cake. if kj can legitimately beat him out then you can either trade Spencer or cut him later in the year.

I will not fault the front office for making sure they have some legitimate ball handlers behind melo.

I don't think so and even if he is by this point I'd still rather have Spencer as a veteran presence

It’s official. Whenever Lamelo goes down we will finally have some competent PG play. Simpson has played well in SL but not sure he’s there, yet.

It wasn't a mistake, he was signed to a vet minimum deal knowing that he could be easily cut if the coaching staff didn't believe he'd contribute after seeing him in camp + preseason.

That just seems like shrewd roster management to me.

the mistake was signing Dinwiddie to a guaranteed deal in the first place. Not a big mistake. but past front offices and coaches would've force fed Dinwiddie 20min a night, and I'm thankful we're not.

With Mann staying healthy and Sexton showing that he can play PG this preseason Spencer wasn't needed. Easy come easy go.

Most fans applaud a FO and owner group that is willing to invest to try to improve the team. I don't understand saying it's a mistake, the only harm is they spent some money.

Agreed. Collin's not a "pure PG" but has done a nice job feeding Moussa, Kalk, and Bridges. He's also brought veteran leadership to the table.

I'd rather those 3rd string PG minutes go to KJ at this point.

I thought he did well second half guiding the team in that Mav’s game. Guess nobody would trade for him. Pat looks HORRIBLE, just a dreadful boat anchor who won’t generate any trade other than for a multi-year horrid contract similar to worthless Josh Green.

Now this gifts him to the Knicks, as a perfect replacement for the suddenly retiring Brogdon. Can’t believe we couldn’t lure them into trading someone decent for Spencer, or send him to Houston as insurance.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Could Dinwiddie have been traded before Dec 15?

Paying a guy a guaranteed $3.6 million for a preseason is definitely a mistake.

I'm sure there were non-guaranteed options out there. Awful
