Hart was on the floor for both plays.

But your point still stands because this was before DET put Duren on Hart.

Yea this game was 01/13/2025… prior to teams habitually putting their centers on Hart as he was shooting 38% from 3pt to this point in the season on good volume (3.5 attempts per).

Point was how nice it is to watch Jalen & KAT cook with all the open space to work in, as opposed to how it is with Mitch in there now..

I think that's part of the reason why Thibs isn't here anymore. The Brunson-KAT pick and roll stopped working the second half of the season.

Mitch can't be a starter is we can't rely on him to be available. He's already not playing back to backs plus whatever other games he misses from injury or load management.

Just start Deuce & play 5 out with 5 real 3pt threats.

I mean technically we were playing damn near close to 5 out with our starters too. Josh Hart was shooting over 40% in the playoffs the 1st two playoffs on ok volume especially vs the celtics. Then he hurt his hand and had a disaster series vs Indy while somehow being allowed to play a significant role through that injury.

And this is no knock on Mitch. That is where the disconnect is. We need to keep Mitch healthy they already have him on sort of a pitch count...which they should we need him to make it through and entire season and long playoff run because he's that important.

But you also need to maximize your most efficient offensive player as well. Whether you want to agree or disagree the value of KAT...and I'm not specifically tied to him. But while he's here we need to maximize him or his value is not as impactful and he isn't going to help enough on the defensive end if he isn't cooking his matchup on the offensive end. So while he is still on the roster its important for our offense to have KAT playing to his maximum capabilities.

I mean yes...it was also widely considered the celtics had the best starting 5 in the NBA. Thats not technically a negative in my eyes.

Mitch had a monster series vs the celtics...especially with a compromised KP...they were trying to guard him with old man Horford and Kornet...I'm just talking matchup wise.

Also McBride equally had a monster series vs Boston as well.

I mean we finished 13th in the league in defense with KAT playing the entire season at center basically. I'm not saying that is amazing but its also not earth shattering bad.

The main issue for our struggles later in the year were we were 1st and 2nd with CLE on offense halfway through the year and then we dropped to 5th. (after Jan 1st) we played as the 16th best offense in the entire NBA (that is simply unacceptable).

Also its not like Mitch isn't playing. He will play a role regardless he is playing 24-28 minutes a game as a starter or bench player. The question is then you either have to play Hukporti or Yabu the remaining 20-24 minutes at center if you aren't planning on playing any minutes of KAT at center. And then what do you do when we have to load manage Mitch throughout the year just make the starters a revolving door?
