Chomche definitely has some kind of issue. This is strange. He's young and developed a lot. This is very sad to hear. We didn't lose any asset other than plain money though so that's good.

Yah, it's wild seeing people think that this was performance related in any way. He was always going to be a long-term project and his play last year was more than good enough to justify another year on a two-way.

Re: Raptors Waive Ulrich Chomche and AJ Lawson
He hurt his hand in summer league and it seems to have persisted until now and saw a specialist early in training camp. If Grange’s source is correct and Chomche is going to require clearance from the NBA return to play committee, then this is likely a blood clot as result of that injury(Dr. Google)
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Chomche was probably one of those injury prone types anyways.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

makes it even more imperative that we get a young big in the system. they can't seriously expect mogbo or even cmb to be the answer there. you will always need size/length in this league, even just as an option.
at the very least it's good to have clarity on things. if the lack of care towards Cs with size is a Bobby thing, then he needs his head checked.
CMB has gotten a lot of Draymond comps. He has small ball C potential. Ideally Barnes can play small ball C this year to cover some of our bases.
This is also what happens when you cap out your mediocre team. You have to turn to the Mamu’s of the world to address your backup C issues. If we want to solve our backup C issue we need cap space above and beyond the vet min. Or we have to draft one. Either way we were still another year away from Chomche (possibly) being able to play at an NBA level. Up until this point he’s been terrible against NBA competition and wasn’t going to help us at all this year.

We’re probably better off rolling with Mogbo/Barnes/CMB at backup C. Every 2 way big we’ve tried over the past few years has been terrible.

We don’t need Lawson with the amount of wings already on the bench. We need a rim running big who can occasionally hit a 3.

I feel like ORob was better than him and I’m not sure why they let him go. Both aren’t worth crying over tho. Chomche and Lawson will be missed.

Maybe we're cursed until Bruno Caboclo returns.

This isn't really a cap issue. Very few teams spend big on a backup center. Aside from teams whose backup big was acquired as salary filler in a trade (ex. Robert Williams in Portland), I can't think of more than 5 teams who have any kind of significant cap space tied up in their backup center. This is just the way the league is.

Damn. Two players that looked pretty decent.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Lawson is an nba level player. Just a bad fit position wise and investment wise.
I'm surprised about Chomche. Injury must be bad enough that they would rather invest in another project. Perhaps circle back to him when healthy.
I hope we use the open two way on a big. there should be some decent ones available when everyone else does their fat trimming of the rosters.

I care more about AJ Lawson between the two. The guy showed he can be a mini microwave scorer. He's a bit redundant with the depth we now have at guard, but it's never bad to have a guy who can go on a heater, especially when injuries pile up.

I mean worse case you can always shift CMB to play the 5 and Mogbo gets the backup 4 minutes.

I would have waived him last year already. No matter the talent, you need the players to be available. We are not talking about small injuries here and there, but season ending injuries in a row.

I think it was Serge. Maybe he was here to try to lift the curse. Backup centre is the defence against the dark arts job. I fear for what may befall Mamu.
