Fox signed the extension, so just can’t happen until February 4th. That leaves a little time before the trade deadline, so it’s possible, but has to wait a long while.

I just don’t think SAS looks to trade Fox until Castle develops some on offense and Harper proves his game translates.

But Fox being trade eligible the day before the deadline will make some fun in this forum at least.

I think the league “could” go against Stepien and take the 2027/2029 firsts from LAL. And suspend Leonard for “…” games this season

Would not cripple the team in an LA market nearly as bad as a voided contract or taking the 2030/2032 firsts.. But would give a similar ESPN highlight.

Going light sets a light precedent. Two first and a light slap on the wrist could be seen as the cost of the teams doing bussiness in the future.

Yeah. I guess if Joe Smith was 3 firsts..

Just as long as there is some level of deniability, I expect the league to hope most fall for it. Some talk about not voiding the contract because the current contract would have been able to be signed either way.

I do think from what I’ve read.. there should be a very strong penalty. I just don’t expect that is all.

I mean Joe smith never got paid. Was only a promise of more money in the future.

Kawhi at least received partial payment. Clippers ducked some luxury tax payments and potential repeat penalties.

Kessler 2 assists away from a triple double, dont think I need to worry about finding a playmaking canter, he looks good in that role.

Kessler the new Myles turner far as always being in trade rumors. Wouldn’t be surprised he ends up staying in Utah on a decently contract

Watching our offense with Nurkic I was ready to move him lol. Nurkic has been fantastic so far. But it looks like Kessler can step into that passing role admirably.

Reed Sheppard and Amen Thompson have looked fantastic. Sengun had two great games of playmaking out of the three he played. The offense w/ Sengun scored at least 40 points in four of the eight quarters he's played.

I'd maybe hold off on trade proposals for a starting PG until a problem resonates.

Dinwiddie had a guaranteed deal right? So he collects his full min? Does the min get set off somehow if he signs with another team?

KD also a good playmaker especially out of his iso sets.

Reed is such a good fit with Amen on paper if he can accelerate his development.

Pretty sure he would keep the Charlotte money plus whatever money (likely the min) he gets from the new team. The original team remains responsible for the salary owed but their salary cap hit is reduced by how much the new team would pay him.

Essentially keeps it. Set off is equal to one half of the new salary minus the league minimum, and then divided by two. If he gets another minimum, then there’s nothing to divide by two.

Super helpful thanks. Since we’re discussing the most boring of rule minutiae, do you know (or anyone else, but if it’s anyone it’s probably you) if the waiver accelerates Charlotte’s payments to Dinwiddie? Or does he still get paid on a schedule?

Will there be any surprise cuts or trades coming out of training camp?

After 9/1, Current season is paid per normal schedule. If he were waived between 7/1 and 8/31, payments are automatically “stretched”, even if he cap hit is not. If Dinwiddie had another year on his contract, this year would be paid as normal, and next year would be stretched.

To be more clear, he league minimum subtracted is of a one year veteran, not a two year veteran. So, there MIGHT be some set off, but no guarantee, based on how much money he makes, when he signs, etc.

Does Devin Carter (Kings) for Dalton Knecht (Lakers) make any sense as a change of scenery trade? Honestly just curious

Carter could learn from Marcus Smart, Dalton just needs a fresh start somewhere

I kind of like it? I feel like a 2nd should also be kicked to LAL just because Knecht looks like a decent backup shooter and Carter might be nothing, but YMMV.
