Raptors Sign Julian Reese (Exhibit 10)

Post#1 » by YogurtProducer » Fri Oct 17, 2025 5:59 pm

Brother of Angel Reese.

Averaged 13.3ppg, 9.0rpg, 1.3apg, 1.1spg, 1.5bpg on 59.9TS% as a senior at Maryland.

One strength of Reese’s game is the ability to score in multiple ways. He is a great finisher at the rim and even has a bit of a jump shot in his game. He can also operate well out of the pick-and-roll. Reese is tremendous on the offensive glass, averaging nearly 3 offensive rebounds per game throughout his career.

However, his biggest strength is his ability on the defensive end. He has tremendous block and steal numbers. He was routinely put up against great bigs in the Big Ten and was almost always successful. Athleticism and good positioning led to him being able to lock down other teams’ frontcourt players.

Honestly might as well have kept Chomche. Reese isn't an NBA guy. Chomche was raw as hell but at least he was an interesting prospect to keep tabs on.

Everyone outside Poeltl is 6' 9" and under now.

Everyone outside two new guys including this scrub is 6' 8" and under. Yeah, allergic to size is right.

I wonder when the lightbulb will turn on for the Raptors front office. We're heading into the season with NO reliable center. No disparagement towards Poeltl, but he's older now and he breaks down when he gets anything more than modest minutes playing time.

The Raptors have passed on so many centers in the last couple of drafts like Yang Hansen, Missi, Filipowski, and Raynaud. Any one of those would have filled a glaring need. The current roster has a glut of undersized guards and forwards.

Yaks only 30 though lol. I am surprised he only played 57 games last season I think most of it was for the tank though. We really need a backup C if we are anything serious. The Pacers were like the lone exception to that one imo. For now I think Scottie/CMB/Sandro filling there will be fine and perhaps surprisingly effective.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Thought Reese was pretty good at MD partnering with Queen in the frontcourt but maybe this entire thing against Cs with real height/size is a Bobby thing? One of the few positives of Masai leaving is having a bit more clarity about team/roster building.

Which would you generally prefer 1) a guy that is 7 foot with standing reach of 8' 10", or 2) a guy that is 6' 9" with a 8' 10" standing reach?

Mogbo can help too.

The problem will be there if Yak is out for an extended period of time.

I don't know why this piece of BS is still being thrown around when this team's been pathetic without Poeltl for a good reason. There's only so much wingspan can cover when they can just push you around just as easily as any other 6' 9" body. And there are plenty of long-armed guys that are 6' 10" and taller; it's just that FO has been allergic to bigs with true size/height fit for the position
