If our best hope for an all-in trade is RJ Barrett, we might as well drive Giannis to the airport.

The best hope is some sort of speculative deal that *doesn't* require our picks and pans out to the extent that MarJon for KPJ has but scaled up.

The Spurs floated Devin Vassel a few months ago, I think they're nervous about the salary commitment. We can take on extra salary, and don't have major extensions in front of us. He should be the goal. The deal would be the complicated multi team type.

Or we have to consider whether to part with someone like AJ Green or Bobby Portis or Ryan Rollins as part of a package to lure in a better player than Barrett.

I know he will start on the Herd, but does anybody think 23 year old top ten pick Johnny Davis might really be able to hit somewhat big in Milwaukee in the next year or two? Seems like he could be Rollins at the least.

I like that he's young, but he's got a long ways to go just to become a good G League player. He's definitely more intriguing though than anyone the Herd have had the last few years.

Pretty wild that Rollins is younger than Davis ain’t it? Big year in store for him.

youre hoping for the kind of results we got the first two years under bud. the league understands how to defend this now. it could be the same struggle we faced on buds last leg

the new guys are faster and move better to the long range shots so its possible. maybe even the best shooters weve had.....but they cant put it on the floor like the previous dudes that could make other defenders come off guys if people were in their grill. we have literally no gaurd on this team that can punish anybody on the dribble besides kpj...or maybe rollins. it could be worse, far far worse.... on that aspect alone. we'll have to see
Problems on Bud's last leg ,(offense):
1. Giannis barreling over mfers and injuring himself... should be fixed but we'll see
2. Slow plodders (Brook, Portis, KM) not really moving or cutting early in the clock leaving it to some 1v1 bs late in the clock ... 2/3 fixed since BP didn't hit pavement yet
3. Doubling GA off the weakest shooter in the last 8 seconds of the clock so either GA shoots a dumb as$ long 2 or kicks it to Donte- bricks-a-lot or Pat-streaky-fcker..... almost fixed except that I'm scared Kuz would be that double off of guy.

So short answer -- no. I am hoping we have good D, quick transitions and find open 3 looks by good shooters or drives by GA/KPJ early in the clock. I'm banking on our current guards being more consistent than DDV and Pat C, Turner being less of a plodder and more consistent shooting than Brook, and KPJ being more of a playmaker on offense than Jrue was.

Not discounting the value in our ability to take on money in this 2nd apron transitionary period.

I was probably the first on this board to tout Green when he first came to the Bucks. I saw him a ton in AAU before he had a great run in college.

But I am disappointed that he still refuses or can't put the ball on the court. The other night against OKC he couldn't get his shot off at all and the one time he did try and dribble he got it taken away,

I get the 3 and D thing, but he will need to expand his game a little more offensively to merit any more that he just got. It's strange because he was an excellent ball handler in college and he has lost all confidence in it or the Bucks have told him to just be one dimensional.

AJ Green is a great find and a solid player but he’s still hands down the weakest link in the starting lineup and it’s really not even close. He’s the defensive target for every opposing team and if his shot isn’t falling he’s rendered pretty useless overall besides some pesky defense he usually gets himself into foul trouble over. This could prove to be a good signing but I’m with you, this is far from any bright shining moment.

A Kuzma trade to get an upgrade from AJ Green in the starting lineup and to get AJ Green back coming off the bench is what this team needs more than anything imo.

If you’re ranking all 60 starting wings in the association (SG/SF), does AJ Green crack your top 50?

He's targeted be cause he defends the opposition best player, and he still graded really well. He holds opponents to a very low FG%.

Green is extremely useful even if he's not scoring, because of the spacing he forces. It's why the Bucks are awesome when he's on the floor.

Yeah "rendered useless" is wild. Every single team knows he can shoot, especially after last season. He's going to create space for Giannis whether the shot's falling or not. Again, that is the main goal of this team: Space the floor and let Giannis work. If the team can do that and shoot 36/37% from 3 with volume, this team isn't winning less than 50 games this year.

Our best hope is to keep him happy this year and then next offseason when we have mulple future 1sts and an expiring Kuzma contract to trade we can take one more big swing (which works out this time)

RJ Barrett

I’m shooting higher considering we have 2030 1st that we can trade outright unprotected, and 2031 1st rd swap to dangle. Plus a 2nd (I think?)
still learning the game

No. I’ve watched him play enough through college and the pros. He just doesn’t have the athletic ability or shooting to be anything of value. Unless he makes some dramatic leap but that’s highly unlikely

Bucks need an Aaron Nesmith type of player on the roster. We’re missing a wing that can defend, create something when needed and hit the open shots.

Maybe we can just trade for Nesmith at some point.

Have to consider everything, but Green and Rollins are more the type that I'd target, guys who the league doesn't yet value appropriately. Naturally, I could be wrong about anything, including how any one of the league's teams values those guys.

Wes was so good for us defensively, but wasn't the same kind of shooter. AJ takes and makes more 3s despite getting a lot more attention. Leaving AJ open gets you dirty looks from your teammates, and the range difference is equally important. If he's internalized the green light like he's seemed to in the preseason, his impact is going to be on another level yet again this year.

Really think people need to consider how much AJ has improved in each of the past 3 years. That speaks to something inherent to his approach -- why would it change now?

Green can no longer be traded this year because of the timing of his extension.
