Look what Im saying is that the Timberwolves already tried what you are suggesting to do. They gave up and traded for Gobert. The knicks essentially are doing the same thing by putting Mitch back in the starting lineup. Word is that the coaches and players were extremely frustrated with KAT's defense last season so it makes sense why they are forcing Mitch back into the starting lineup.

The issue with our offense is that teams figured out they could put a wing on KAT and they were able to neutralize him. That's been a KAT problem for his whole career. Thibs tried to help him overcome that. Thibs made an emphasis on getting him the ball down low in the post so he can punish the smaller players and KAT had some big games in the playoffs because of that. And speaking of our offense, this new fast offense doesn't fit KAT at all so far. That's going to be something worth monitoring.

what rosters did the wolves have pre-rudy trade that were contender quality?

this insinuates they built a great roster around Kat stacked with talent but couldn't get it done due to poor defense. so please tell me which year(s) they had such roster.

Towns-centered teams were glorified turnstiles for a large part of his early career. Minnesota ranked in the bottom 10 in defense for six straight seasons from 2015-16 to 2020-21, with their best performance coming in the year Towns missed almost half of their games.

this doesn't answer the question. what year was the wolves roster stacked enough to be considered a contender - but towns defense held them back?

Just to "string-bet", dumping Dadiet and delaying signing the 14th player for 2 weeks still leaves the Knicks frustratingly something like 150,000 short of being able to sign 3 min-vets. But, maybe you all want to sign Mo to the rookie 2nd-round minimum, and that would leave space for a late season other vet-min contract.

I'm really pretty sceptical that, eg, having Matthews and Shamet increases the Knicks chances of doing well. But w/e.

I think Diawara stole Pacs spot, mainly due to the fact that if he gets a defensive rebound he's going to push the ball up the floor himself. For a coach that wants to play fast that's the young player that stands out, as well as Huk who runs like his life depends on it.

I'm so happy I hyped him up like I did when we drafted him. I had a very good feeling about him, especially with his self-awareness in how he spoke in interviews

I assume Shamet and Diawara get the 13th and 14th roster spots. They can use the first few months of the season to evaluate the fit of the players in Brown's system . There will be more options available for trade after December 15th. They can look to address the teams' needs between then and the trade deadline.

Outside of a slim chance at someone like Beasley, who they may or may not want for different reasons, I don't see anyone available at the moment that is worth moving our limited assets to acquire.

edit: thanks for giving me the updated info on two-ways. diawars isn't one of them. i know we're also getting more solid roster information today, so i'm sitting tight.

I thought McCullar, Jemison and Evboumwan already had the 3 two-way slots. I believe they have room for 1 vet min and 1 rookie min at the moment so unless some other moves are made I just assumed it would be Shamet and Diawara for the 13th and 14th spot. Maybe I missed something.

A big that can board/get stops and then push in transition is a big deal. Especially if you are looking to run.

Very different kind of player. Pac could be an off ball menace which brings a lot of value. But if we need to choose one... well, I think we just did.

Diawara has to be a 2nd round exception contract to fit us under the 2nd apron. He will be on the 15 man roster.

2-way guys are mccullar jr, jamison, and Evbuomwan

My guess is Shamet makes the roster and they just keep Dadiet for now. And reevaluate during the year if they need a an additional guard.

Kolek last few games has proven he should be at least ok for a break in case of emergency guard off the bench.
