Don’t tease me. There’s never been a player in the history of Wisconsin sports that sucked for years and was never good in the playoffs that is more beloved than him. Anyone else they’d have the entire stadium booing performing like he does in the playoffs as the highest paid player.

Yelich had to be juicy in those years he was in the MVP race got his big deal and backed off and now he’s hurt all the time. 2nd least favorite brewer ever. Personality of a rock too. Too bad he’s on maybe one of the worst deals in pro sports right now.

I'm just as tired of watching Yelich as anyone else, but the broken kneecap lines up too perfectly with the premature end of his prime for me to really fault him. He still works very hard and stays in shape, by all accounts.

It's also kind of hard to be such a tall hitter. You don't see guys that tall very often. They have a big strike zone to cover and might have more torque on their back. Yelich improved his launch angle shortly after arriving in Milwaukee and that led to his incredible run in 2018 and 2019. My theory is that the new launch angle was also harder on his back and that's why he wasn't able to sustain it.

They might need his roster spot to keep more valuable role players like Perkins and Collins. I'm cautiously hopeful that Mark A would pay part of his salary in a trade. However, he does have a full no-trade clause. At this rate, he'll probably have to be DFA'ed before his deal is up. It's usually downhill fast at his age.

This isn't even close to true

Also, he sucked in the playoffs, but overall he had a really nice season and was a constant in the lineup. (150 games played)

Yelich was pathetic in the playoffs but he was legitimately very good this season

So you’re telling me there’s a chance someone might want to trade for him!?

Yelich never really hit well after that week off he had in early September. I’m wondering if he is battling injury, but if so its concerning because occurs every year and also need to just sit as did not help team. But it likely did not matter as guys like Collins were equally as abysmal.

Full no-trade clause though. Mentioning it again because it was kind of buried in my previous post, which was also about his career trajectory and so forth.

This was a great Brewer season. The team massively overachieved based on the talent base. Murphy did a ton of unconventional stuff that worked. The team scored a ton of runs and won 97 games. Fantastic!

But at the end of the day we didn't have enough A+ hitters. Not even close. And the overachiever bats we had got shut down by great starters, which happens all the time in the playoffs.

I couldn't watch as many games once the school year started in September, but it did seem to me that Collins was at least hitting the ball hard more frequently than Yelich. But the truth is that Hoskins probably should have gotten more DH starts, and in hindsight probably should have even gotten Yelich's postseason roster spot (again, in hindsight only - not blaming them for including Yelich).

For those in the know, how big is the pitching gap between the Cubs and LA?

Surely there's a lot more to the Brewers going from scoring 19 runs at home to the worst MLB output in over 100 years. I'd think the parity is not *so* bad that one NLCS team should be able to basically swirlie another for 4 straight games.

Talent-wise, it's a pretty big gap. However, it's worth mentioning that the Dodgers all had great starts in the same week. They almost all had excellent command with most of their pitches, and only Glasnow was maybe just "fine but not great" in terms of command. They all had a lot of movement or break on their offspeed stuff. You could tell it was probably going to be a long night within just a couple innings for all of them.

It would be like if Misiorowski, Woodruff, Burnes, and Peralta were all healthy Brewers in their primes at the same time and picked the same week to all pitch about as well as they're capable of pitching.
