Re: Bears thread 13
I think Caleb just needs to slow down. He gets amped up and throws to soon, too fast, or wildly. Once he gets more comfortable with the system and with the NFL speed, hopefully he'll be able to play a little more freely, the way he did in college, and some of those problems will disappear. I still like his upside a lot.
I don't know if there's a stat for plays over 20 yards, but Caleb must rank pretty highly in that category.

Washington got Jayden via the #2 pick... That they had on their own merit of sucking. Bears own pick was #9, the #1 was due to Carolina sucking. The skins roster wasn't loaded last year. They just made a major upgrade at QB.
Again we are judging careers after 22 games so let's trade Caleb and put Jayden in the Hall of Fame we're talking about Caleb and Jayden not Mitch and Patrick . You're not making any sense no rookie Quarterback could have succeeded with the hand Cabel was dealt.

He was given DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and Odunze. Kmet had a good year the season prior with fields as well. Fields got alot more out of DJ than Caleb did. Keenan Allen's #s with the chargers speak for themselves. Last year Caleb turned him into a pumpkin. This year he's back in LA. Though of course not in his prime anymore, but he's still relevant again.
22 games is a pretty big sample size. While i do still hope that Caleb puts it together and becomes an elite QB, not much to this point shows it. Dead last in misfired pass % (per MNF stats graphic) is a bad indication that he doesn't have the accuracy to be elite. That's besides the fact that he also just misses guys open (by not passing to them. Monangai on that 2pt was a perfect example). So lacking both accuracy and vision
Thank Goodness Ben is the head coach I'm old enough to remember Peyton suck his first two years in the NFL the current NFL MVP Josh Allen was horrible his first two years.

I saw yesterday Micah Parsons crying about not getting holding calls, the 47 million dollar a year man who only has two sacks.

Aikman comes across as a country club a$$ so often. Like he’s among the NFL elite and can judge everyone else. He had a great career but it’s so worn and tired when guys do that.
Troy was handing the ball off to Emmit Smith too, in a different era of football. But it’s fun

It seemed like it mostly fair enough criticism, reserved more for Caleb, but Daniels earned any bias I guess. The Bears offense is ranked bottom tier in EPA. Cab has a 61% completion rate, far less than the target. Caleb just has to shut people up.

I know they’re gonna bench Moody when whats his name returns. And I guess the Saints game could potentially go a ways to illustrate the Bears direction with that. And money tends to put plays on the field. (Don’t get me started on the Bears decision to pay the kicker). But Moody is vibing with the team. He fits right now.

3 of 4 made, including a do or die kick to win it on the road, with a holder he'd only been working with for a very short time, in wet, windy conditions? Yeah, that was impressive.

Winning goes a long way towards shutting people up.
As for the Aikman/Caleb comparison, Caleb may have the edge right now, but Aikman did lead the Cowboys to 3 Super Bowl wins, so Caleb has a ways to go before he can really start comparing himself to Troy.

Bears fans have always been obsessed with backups. From Shane Matthews to Kyle Orton to Caleb Hanie to Bagent. It's the Chicago way.

Preface all this by saying, the Bears pieces have a lot of potential when everything is up and running down the line. Chiefly, Caleb’s upside is almost unlimited if he is able to curb some issues. Which if realized could make this question indeed, bananas. But that’s not where we are, Oct 18 2025.
Bagent would run BJs offense more like Goff does, minimally. Is that worth more points at the end of the day Oct 18? The Bears offense is not setting the world on fire currently. Although it’s probably average? Not sure. Bagent could potentially run BJs offense the way it was designed more efficiently. Caleb is still holding ball a very long time. But you’re also missing the big time throws with Bagent. And perhaps the clutch drives that Caleb appears pretty good at executing. FWIW, the Bears offense scored less points with Bagent than with Fields. However, Bagent was a rookie from Jerkwater state being thrown into the fire. Maybe as a “veteran” now, Bagent is more advanced and able. It’s not completely bananas. The Bears EPA is not very good right now.

I was impressed. I’m concerned about the kickoffs, but I am also not thinking about kickoffs with this idea. Moody obviously has all the raw talent in the world. Ben Johnson said he thinks there is a chance that a change of scenery can unlock him.

And it's getting old how can the Bears develop a Quarterback if we pull the starter for a backup who only played good against third and fourth stringers.

Preface all this by saying, the Bears pieces have a lot of potential when everything is up and running down the line. Chiefly, Caleb’s upside is almost unlimited if he is able to curb some issues. Which if realized could make this question indeed, bananas. But that’s not where we are, Oct [emoji[emoji[emoji6

Bagent would run BJs offense more like Goff does, minimally. Is that worth more points at the end of the day Oct [emoji[emoji[emoji6

Yet some of our posters wants to bench our current Quarterback let the kid develop.

Bears fans have always been obsessed with backups. From Shane Matthews to Kyle Orton to Caleb Hanie to Bagent. It's the Chicago way.
To be fair, orton might be top 5 bears qb all time

Uh, no one said they wanted to bench Caleb. Try reading the posts a little more closely. The point was, it is possible Bagent would do a better job right now than Caleb. It was a hypothetical argument. Get it?
