Re: Realistic Wish List???
Trade idea.
Kris Murray for Keon Ellis
Kings add F depth and unite twins.
Blazers shore up weakest position SG.
Keon is a very good defender and spot up shooter. 3P% over 3 seasons, 42.9%. But, he is not a playmaker, with weak handles.
Overall, Keon rates out as a slightly better player than Kris. So Blazers may need to add a SRP, or 2.
The Blazers need 3P shooting. Keons defense is a bonus.

I love the idea. But I am not a huge Kris Murray fan - so there is that.
Keon fits the mold - really good defensive player. Additional bonus of being a good 3-point shooter.
I think that Keon is one of Doug Christie's favorite players. But... given the extension that they gave to Keegan, they might just want to keep him happy. Also, Sacramento has a logjam of SGs in Monk, Carter, Clifford, Davis, LaVine and DeRozan and a shortage of forwards.
I would definitely add SRPs to make it happen.

Since the Blazers seem to be wanting to load up on veterans and still "go for it", Dinwiddie would be a good pickup for backup to Jrue and a pinch starter. The Blazers PG rotation is pretty weak and I'm not confident we're seeing much of Scoot this year.

I gotcha - but I think he is done and doesn't fit the mold (defensively). This is going to be interesting to watch.

Certainly he'd be better than Wesley as a backup to Scoot/Jrue, although I seem to recall his production starting to fall off the cliff last year...or maybe it was the year before.
Not sure how it would impact things salary-wise.

Re: Realistic Wish List???
A little surprising, he had a decent year with DAL LY. He will be 33, so a little on the older side. I suspect CHA wanted to go with the younger guards they have: Sexton, Mann, James, Green. That is plenty of depth behind Ball\Kneuppel

I mean, as a backup, I don't think that matters much how well he "fits the mold". I mean, a bit, but with min guys like this, you just usually want competent NBA players above all else, which he is.
Also don't really know why people are calling him "done" exactly. He still seems to produce solidly in the backup role.

The last couple of seasons he was really struggling to stay in front of anyone....

I get it, but also, it's a get what you pay for kinda deal. He's available at the price he is for a reason, you can't expect zero problems, but that also doesn't mean he's not a positive contributor.

Re: Realistic Wish List???
He is better than Wesley\Love, not that is saying much or that this team needs more older guys, though I would say he is the kind of vet you would typically like to see behind your young PG, capable, dependable but not a threat to replace your young guy unless they completely bomb out
Instead Cronin opted for vets who expect to start\play heavy minutes not the most ideal scenario to develop top 10 lottery picks, but maybe that was never his intention, just to use them as trade bait for the “Dame experience 2.0”, can’t wait

He can’t be worse than Wesley and Love. Those guys suck.

Re: Realistic Wish List???
Precious Achiuwa’s first tenure with the Miami Heat was short, but the forward/center’s second tenure with the Heat was even shorter. Instead of keeping Achiuwa on the roster for the start of the regular season, a league source told the Miami Herald that the Heat informed the 26-year-old Achiuwa following Friday’s preseason finale that it is waiving him before his contract starts to become guaranteed on opening night.

Would Precious be decent depth for the Blazers while Time lord is out?

HELL YES. And it would allow us to run small ball C.
What I don't get is that he played pretty well this pre-season. Miami is either planning something or feel Kel'el Ware is playing so well that Precious isn't going to see the floor or both.
Garrison Matthews is available as well.

Yeah hed be a good veteran off the bench for maybe 32 games unless an injury happens. Better than what we have tbh

Re: Realistic Wish List???
A 6’6 guard with a career 38% 3ptFG%, why would POR want such a player?
Agree about Achiuwa as well, a mobile big to compliment not 1 but 2 drop bigs on your roster, what a concept
Cronin…winning in the margins, no, not really at all

Technically, he'd be the 3rd string PG when Scoot returns so do we care too much about his defense?

Agreed. I think he has some real potential.
I'm sure they'll get Dame's insight into his work habits
*** Edit. ***
Maybe not... I went to the Bucks board to see what they had to say about him. These two comments don't paint much hope:
AussieBuck wrote:drdrG wrote:I would be more stunned if Tyler Smith became a serviceable NBA player than just about anyone that's played for the Bucks in recent memory. I cannot remember him making any play other than hitting a catch and shoot 3. Seems to have no basketball instincts and is always a step slow.
Agreed. I am fairly elite at imagining things that will probably never eventuate with our young guys and I just couldn't do it all with that dude. Never saw a single thing.

I see I have been summoned the the Portland board, what a treat!
And yeah, as above. Chris Livingston would be a better bet if you want a forward recently cut by the Bucks.
