What do you think Heat need from Wiggins?
And what will be an ok production from him?

He needs to be the guy to step up on the perimeter. Whether it is getting a needed lockdown on defense in the clutch or a timely basket to stop an opposition run. Wiggins needs to be the leader.

Herro is not great on defense and will score in bundles if he is not the focus of a oppo defense, but if Herro is asked to be the go to guy on the perimeter then he will get tired and hurt. Herro shines as Robin to a Batman. Wiggins is a former #1 pick and needs to play at a higher level than anyone else on the team. I don’t know if he has the drive to do it, though he definitely has the talent and physical ability. From what I saw this pre-season and last season, I do not have much reason for hope.

i think he is capable of it here in miami and he would only need to do it in spurts. im optimistic that we can be a top team in the east with a shared load type of offense where any night the top scorer can change but all the starters in double digits with Wiggins,Herro,or Powell taking turns stepping up to get the win

Appreciate the optimism Volt. Not buying into the doom and gloom here, we might not be a top-tier team, but we're definitely going to be better than we were last season.

My perspective is either the Heat are building for a championship or they are competing for one. No treadmilling. I think Vert made some good posts about what Riley’s plan is. He is testing this season out and if it doesn’t work out, he is resetting the team. I think sixth seed this year, Herro traded for a Giannis type player next year, and competing once again for a championship by 2027. Talent is being acquired and developed and cap space is being locked in.

Dumb move lefting go of Precious he could have been paired with both Ware and Jovic at PF/C off the bench and given the team another plus athlete. If Spo has any sense Simone Fontecchio will be the back up SF/SG he's a Max Struss level player if given a chance he's a quality role player and one of the few high IQ players in the team.

I think one of the reasons Achiuwa got cut was because Miami is going to have a frontcourt rotation of Bam, Ware, Jovic, and Fontecchio. I've been saying I thought Fontecchio would play himself into a consistent role for Miami.

I think Jaquez has earned SF minutes behind Wiggins. Once, Herro is back, most of the minutes will be split between him, Powell, and Mitchell, with Dru Smith getting minutes here and there.

Everyone kept saying oh but Tatum is out, Haliburton is out.. no myles turner for indiana.. yeah just wait and see, both the celtics and the pacers will still be better than us. Not to mention Orlando, Detroit, Cleveland, New York, and Milwaukee.

The only teams I see being definitively better than Miami are Cleveland, Orlando, and NY. You can add Philly to that list if they ever get healthy. I expect Detroit, Milwaukee, Boston, and Indiana to be worse than last year. That doesn't mean Miami finishes ahead of them, but I think Miami got better with the acquisition of Powell while those other teams got worse by losing some key players.

Atlanta got better on paper, but Porzingis is chronically injured and I don't see Kennard or Alexander-Walker being franchise-altering acquisitions. They do stand to be better since given Jalen Johnson missed so much of last year, but I don't think Atlanta finishes ahead of Miami.

There are reasons to believe Miami will be better than last year (full training camp with Powell, Wiggins, D Mitchell + potential improvement from the youngns), especially given how many massive leads Miami blew.

The only teams I see being definitively better than Miami are Cleveland, Orlando, and NY. You can add Philly to that list if they ever get healthy. NBA teams are allowed to carry 14 players on standard contracts — one below the NBA regular-season limit of 15 players on standard deals — during the regular season. But by waiving Achiuwa ahead of opening night, the Heat is now in position to sign a player to fill that empty 15th spot on its standard roster for the rest of the regular season in early December without crossing the luxury tax line.

Hed have been pretty good if he were 7'1".

I was not a fan of his at all during the process. 6'7" power players dont do it for me like they do Spo.

However, once we drafted him, I wanted him to be successful somewhere.

Well part of the problem is Spo is the front office and when he makes statements like we have enough etc well then one will get blame. It’s not hard to say something like we are not at the level we want to be but we are working on it.

Well part of the problem is Spo is the front office and when he makes statements like we have enough etc well then one will get blame. It’s not hard to say something like we are not at the level we want to be but we are working on it.

It is absolutely clear to anyone with eyes, anyone that can read the contract expirings, anyone that saw the half ass effort to acquire Durant, that we dont have enough, that this season is mostly about development.

No coach is ever going to say we suck, we are rebuilding, thats not what a championship organization says. But they have clearly made a lot of roster mistakes.

However, once we drafted him, I wanted him to be successful somewhere.

His upsized hinged on him being able to shoot the 3 ball, which never really developed for him.

For a guy who has athletic traits, he also never really seemed to use his athleticism enough in game.

It’s a shame, but you can’t nail them all.

So be it, but I'm not gonna act like the team is devoid of talent because there isn't a top 5 player. If Kelel and Jovic do their job along with Powell we should be better than last year..you know what Bam and Tyler baselines are

Putting a team like Charlotte above us is just bait
