Hey Knicks fam — I’ve been lurking on this board forever, checking it multiple times a day, but rarely post. Just had to jump in because I’m really excited about this season, and one guy in particular: Mohamed Diawara.

For all the old heads out there, Diawara gives me serious Bo Outlaw vibes. If you don’t know Outlaw, hit YouTube — hustle guy, long arms, rebounds, dunks, runs the floor like a maniac. That’s Diawara right now. His floor might be Bo Outlaw, and that’s already a keeper in my book.

But here’s the twist — Diawara’s got a more refined offensive game. He’s not just a hustle-and-dunk guy. There’s some polish there, and that’s where the ceiling starts to rise. I’m also getting flashes of Trevor Ariza in his movement and defensive instincts. If he develops that jumper and keeps grinding, we might have something special.

So yeah — I’m officially christening him Mo Outlaw. Let’s see if it sticks

He flashed right away. It's gonna be fun watching a couple of the young guys fight for minutes. Knowing we might see them play is a lot better than knowing they will never see the floor.

I'm not sure this board is prepared for how little this team will care about optimizing for the 82 game regular season.

If Brown is doing his job right, the regular season will be a series of experiments for the playoffs.

Years of Thibs indoctrination will do that to you.

Hopefully slowly and slowly throughout the season the spell will wear off & folks will understand the bigger picture.

How many wins are you guys willing to sacrifice for this experimentation? I can understand if we’re locked into our seed like we were last year but I’d hate to miss out on home court in the ECF’s to see more Dadiet or Diawara minutes.

Outside of a scenario full of a series of catastrophic injuries, I don't think Diawara or Dadiet will play meaningful minutes this season. The mission isn't development. It's figuring out the formula to a ring.

The experimentation will come with how the top 8 players are deployed.

the motor and defense will be there, and as we discuss, the siakam-ish/anunoby-ish offensive game development pathways make sense. especially siakam with how far he came as a scorer. OG kinda came into the league with a baby bag.

y'all know what i think. he doesn't have to necessarily be getting big minutes to be developing. and i'm not sure how many struggle minutes wrought with failure help. there's probably a balanced approach that will come with his deal. lots of eating bigly in the G. sporadic time up with the club. and some garbage minutes when they arise.

excited about the kid, but he's not the kind of contributor we need to be throwing into the fire just yet. but it could be awesome if he's ready to be in the rotation in a couple seasons.

I think playing him early and often as OG's back up can yield big dividends later on in the season. I hope Brown is willing to allow some growing pains because I'm sitting here looking at the roster and there are so many different combinations I want to see with this group.

Considering that this team was eliminated with home court advantage in all 4 of their postseasons under Thibs i'm less concerned with pushing for seeding and regular season wins and more concerned with the team playing its best basketball heading into the postseason and health whether that includes young guys or not.

This is really great news if Mike brown does this. When Mitch is being load managed we will be starting huk. That means we’ll be having rim protection even with Mitch is out.

Yeah he reminds me of Trevor Ariza right now. Hopefully his game develops faster. Arizona never did much on the knicks except give us some flashes but on the Lakers had alittle more impact. Idk how high his ceiling is but could still end up a fan favorite and impactful player here

I didn't see a year or roster specified anywhere. My question was very simple. What specific year and roster were the Timberwolves on paper good enough to be considered a legit contender - but they failed to live up to those expectations due to Kat's poor defense playing the 5.

The reality is they never had a very good roster. Their 2nd best player was a fringe top 20-30 Jimmy Butler.

So sure, having Kat as your best player and him playing the 5 didn't work with a mediocre supporting cast.

I'm not even arguing it would/could work with Kat at the 5 with this roster. But the insinuation there is this overwhelming evidence based on a bad franchise with bad rosters not succeeding is disingenuous and agenda pushing.
