But it might be worth keeping jones as a backup over keeping a mid to late round pick.

Calls to the jets needs to be happening as well

When they fire McDaniels some team is going to pick up an awesome OC, which might be the best for Mike. Feel like Fangio had to learn this same lesson the hard way as well.

Yah. Probably goes back to the 49ers for the rest of the season as a consultant. Then my guess would be the jets for OC next season

The offense has a lot to clean up (though the running game was great), but the people who are putting this all on Caleb just enjoy griping about Caleb, as best I can tell. He absolutely needs to be better, but the idea that everything is clicking other than him is just irrational.

It isn’t entirely a Caleb issue but it is primarily a Caleb issue. Yes, the operations are sloppy and Rome’s catch rate is taking years off my life, but this offense is hampered by Caleb’s inability to see quick reads unless they’re check downs, which makes an already suspect pass pro look that much worse.

I don’t know what it is, if it’s perception Bs reality. We could use some stats, but for a “contested catch guy”, he sometimes doesn’t come down with contested balls. Not enough to enhance the reputation necessarily.

Saw a stat that had Rome as the #1 receiver in contested catch rate in 2024. Their definition of “contested” must be loose because that doesn’t match the eye test at all.

IIRC, he made a point before the season that his play strength wasn’t where it needed to be, and he worked at it. Which is what it often looks like. Not quite strong enough to rip some of these balls down.

I’ll continue to choose positivity when the wins keep coming.

The run game has sorted itself out and Kyle looks like he could be our Montgomery. Earlier in the season it was the other way around so as the season progresses, the hope is that both parts of the game eventually mesh together.

The defense is generally rock solid and the takeaways are now becoming a pattern.

Still have faith, but he has to do better. Just not a good game from him. The passing game has to improve all around.

This is what young Qb’s do up and down games

I'm not seeing anyone put it all on Caleb. The passing game sucks, period. As qb he had to take responsibility for that. He is holding the ball way too long. When he tries to make quick reads he usually makes the wrong one and throws into double coverage.

The OL has also been weak on pass plays. But they execute very well on run plays. Is it their fault or Caleb's? The likely and logical answer is both.

I don't see Moore making that catch if he is looking for it. It was well covered, the pass was behind him, and the double coverage was there besides.

Seems like you might be the one trying to absolve Caleb more than anyone trying to blame it all on him.

Lamar Jackson is expected to be back next week, the Ravens are coming off a bye, and they’re favorites by 6.5 points. Our passing game will have to be better if we’re going to win that one.

The Ravens' defense has been horrible so far this season.

team has gotten to a point where it would be a disappointment if they didn't win at least eight games, which is a pretty good place to be 7 weeks in

IMO it's very hard to predict our team. None of our wins are against what I would call good teams. Caleb still struggles with reads, but he has been aided by good Oline play and our running game.

I want to see how the team reacts when they lose the inevitable close game. Although the coaching staff is new there is a ton of overlap with the players this year that lost on the Fail Mary last year and started an incredible losing skid. Do the BJ Bears have the mental fortitude to lose a game they should have won but then bounceback and win the next one?

they've got five more games against teams that i wouldn't call good. if they can manage to go 3-2 in those games, they would be able to go 1-5 for the rest of their schedule and still get to 8 wins.

i'm not saying i'm confident the bears get there, but it would be a disappointment if they can't clear that bar after a 4-2 start.

The running game just started to get going over the last 2 games. The line has been better with protection this year for sure. But they amass a ton of penalties that have kept us off schedule at times. Caleb has been a middle of the pack QB so far. We may not always be winning because of him. Be we certainly aren't losing because of him either.

I feel like people have become so fixated on one player that they are missing what's happening right in front of us. We can harp on who we are and are not beating, but lets not get ahead of ousrselves. We came into this season as a bad team by most accounts. Therefore, NO WIN is a given for us. And the mofe of these bad/mid teams we beat, the more it validates that we are no longer one. Lets just enjoy improvement for a change.

The o-line play has probably been average-ish, and there has only been a good running game for 2 weeks. Earlier in the season, the running game looked totally inept and it was the passing game keeping the Bears afloat.

But the running game these past two weeks has been dominant. It’s been crazy to watch. Probably a good reason to be patient on personnel moves - everyone wanted the Bears to trade for a RB in the first 5 weeks of the season and all of a sudden it no longer looks like a need.

This is a bad game by any standards. The defense and run game has to be pretty freaking good to overcome this level of quarterbacking.

It was a certainly bad game but anyone who has played this sport at a high level knows you dont apologize for 2 score wins.

maybe not, but a genuine competitor defers the credit to where it is due, vows to get better, and delivers

Unless the Ravens were supplied with a magical defensive potion over their bye week, i can't see them covering as 6.5 favorites over anyone.
