Either way, when I use the PFN Mock Draft Simulator in the future I’m adding CB to our list of needs, along with two new guards, MLB, and another pseudo #1 receiver.
Yep, it’s officially draft season in NYC. Jets’ fans should be flying to Oregon and Indiana to scout QBs asap.
I think Flott has looked good...he's a keeper. Dru Phillips has moments but way too handsy. Adeebo going down for injury killed them today.
They certainly need to add depth and shoot Banks to the moon. Maybe even trade him for a low pick this year for some team that maybe thinks they can turn him around.
The offensive line being a good unit really helps moving forward.
Its not draft season for us...still a ton of season and Dart development and progress game to game is worth watching...its not like we are playing out the season for nothing to play for or rooting for losses ect.
Yeah our CB room isn’t bad, but when we signed Adebo to his contract I noted it was for 18 mil per year. Top CBs make closer to 30, so he always felt like a good #2 to me, not a #1. Adding a real #1 would knock everyone down one spot and make that group a real deep one.
As for whether it’s draft season or not, only 8 teams have made the playoffs since 1990 with a 2-5 record. That’s one a decade. Are we special? Maybe, since we seem to finally have a QB we can count on somewhat, but Dart is still a rookie and there will be down weeks for him.
Daniel Jones success suggests he wasn’t the only problem we had. But the way Dart evades the rush and makes the oline look better suggests the oline is/was better than we thought. Either way, Van Roten is replaceable, and Runyon only has a year left on his deal and could be a cap casualty. Our RT is a free agent too. We’ll need at least two new starters there, and we just can’t afford to make the same mistakes as in the past and not invest in that group. Maybe Mbow is a starter in waiting, but I’d like to see a lot of competition in that group next year.

your up 2 in the NFL where guys can make 60 yarders...40 seconds is plenty of time to get off 3 plays and spike it. Playing prevent in that situation is comincal...if anytthing the best thing to do is get nix pressured to make a bad decision...letting him just sit back there is comical.
That’s why I never liked the rule changes on kickoffs allowing teams to start at the 25 or 35 yard line. It makes late field goals too easy imo…

Andrew Thomas was and is always the key. He is by far the Giants best player. Its not even close.
He basically took Bonito (the best edge maybe in the NFL) and rendered him useless.
In terms of draft season or not. Basically as a fan...I'm not rooting for losses because we have our QB. Picking like 6th or 12th if you not looking a QB isn't like a game breaker to me. You can get a really good player in either spot.
Wins and erasing the stentch of this franchise losing so many games is more important. So thats what I mean...like the Jets should be rooting for lossess to hopefully have a chance to pick the best QB...we still shoudl be rooting for wins and Dart looking good.
I can't think about next year just yet even if we aren't likely a playoff team. To much season and we are a relatively young roster.
Biggest needs:
WR2 (that could be our 1st round pick because there is a lot of talent)
Play making linebacker....they will cut Okereke he looks so slow out there.
More DB depth.
Oline depth seems ok. They have mbow waiting how looks solid too. Maybe an interior lineman.
Its just frustrating because there are so many good signs but they just don't know how to finish and win (and a lot of that is coaching).
But I'm also encourage that they nearly almost beat Chargers/Eagles/Broncos in a 4 week span. That is impressive.

Listen, I’m with you. There are a lot of good signs. We finally look like a pro team most weeks. That’s progress.
That said, I don’t think we can cut Okereke after this season; he’s still a tackling machine and just needs an upgrade next to him since McFadden will be coming off injury and Muasau is just a depth piece. Fully agree on a receiver and CB depth; I just think the way to create depth is adding guys at the top of the depth chart and knocking everyone down a spot.
I like the foundation of our team: a QB we can believe in, deep pass rush, somewhat deep secondary, and with a premium draft pick, deep receiving corps. That’s how we built our last two Super Bowl teams. I thought we needed a front line TE but Theo keeps making plays and I’m starting to see the vision with him.
Super tough loss, but I hate the turnover that occurs with first year QBs after bad years. I’m in the minority but I would Daboll and Schoen and let Dart continue to marinate in the same system.

There is probably less than 1% chance Okereke is back on the team next year. A 14 MM cap hit for a bad LB? Don't care about his tackling he can't make plays anymore. He's lost a step. It would be malpractice to have that type of out on his contract and not take it.
PFF has him ranked 111th out of 140 LB that is atrocious for what we are paying him. We can save nearly 9 MM by cutting him. Its an obvious cut.

A post-June 1st cut would allow the giants to spread his 5.5 in dead money over two years with 9 mil in cap savings. That’s would help with in-season moves but as bad as you paint him, I’m not sure we have a better inside linebacker on the roster.

Either free agent or draft. For example Devin Lloyd is a free agent.
Or you can use a draft pick to add a player. Anthony Hill Jr is an absolute freak.
I think having a sideline to sideline down hill backer is what this defense is missing the most.
