I was pretty convinced Camara was gonna end up in the low 30's closer to what Murray got. Honestly surprised he signed this deal.

I was surprised on the contract too, something like 25-30 is what I expected! I think this price is a steal for the Blazers, who have a nice promising young team. I like what Portland is cooking right now, congrats on the discount.

5 years for Keegan vs 4 years for Sharpe/Camara though so not exactly an A/B comparison. I get people think Keegan got overpaid but I'm not part of that camp, I just think we need better roster construction to actually maximize him.

This hurts me as a Suns fan seeing that they gave up on him so quickly because they wanted to jettison Ayton so bad. While I am more than fine seeing Ayton off our roster, Camara would be a huge blessing and defensive presence for us and one that's desperately needed.

if he were like a year and a half or two years younger, he would have cost alot more but seems like even tho he's 25, he's def got some more growing to do. good get for PDX, while it may seem they're locked in to a hefty salaries with most of their non rookie deals core pieces - all these contracts are at great market value, and the players are all good, versatile and generally sought-out type of players. all are very movable when they do decide to go for some big trade, or a series of smaller ones..

Camara was limited on his number due to being a 2nd Round pick, think another poster mentioned it earlier. This is somewhat similar to the Andrew Nembhard deal.

You should be one of the very few because you're wrong.

Camara is one of the best defenders in the game. That alone warrants a good contract.

On offense, he's a 3&D player and his role is limited to spreading the floor and shooting threes. His 3P% improved from 33.7% to 37.5% between year one and year two in the NBA. (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/camarto01.html). That's almost a 4% improvement in a single season! And he's still very young and can continue to improve for several more years.

Offense and defense combined with his age, you'd say this is fair value at minimum.

If you then keep in mind that the extension only starts in the 2026-2027 season, that means he's underpaid this year and he has plenty of time to get better and show that this contract will be a bargain when the salary cap will go up over the years.

I’m very high on him. He is the next great glue guy for a contender. Not to mention this is a very team friendly contract.

He should end up as one of the best players picked in the 50s in the draft.
