Hollinger has always had it in for Curry ever since Curry destroyed any chances of the Grizzlies to advance further while Hollinger was an executive with that team. If Curry is close to where he was last year there is no reason to believe he isn't top 10.

he was. Then he was a GM for a decade...he's a lot more than the PER guy now but that's also a legit reason to say it's it's claim to fame.

Curry is still top 10, but I agree the rest of the old guard doesn't belong to the top 10.

To be a devil, you said "is". The list is "will be" as in will be next year. Curry is a 6'2-3 200ish pound guard who will be 37.

I like how he's clear on his criteria/framework. Hollinger understands the difference between conditional value and absolute goodness. Circumstance (teammates, coach, scheme, rotation, etc.) plays an obviously significant factor in how impactful and therefore valuable a player can be.

Gonna have to be on the outside in on the Mobley hype. I think he's an excellent player but to say he's approaching top 5 in the league is a bit much for me.

the thing is that he's not really approaching it.
there's an enormous gap between the top4 (and Wemby) and everyone else.
You can more easily argue him at #20 rather than #5

I dont think you should lump these two together, jdub is way more impactful than Mobley especially in the playoffs.

And someone like Mitchell might be better at lifting a lotto team but if i'm a contender i'm taking JDub over Mitchell every single time.

Other than the game with the 40 ball, didn't JDub also struggle throughout the playoffs last year.

I don't consider any player over 35 a top 10 player. Top 10 means you can get up and carry a team. What you did over the course of your career, don't make you top 10.

ANT's underrated, he's led his team to TWO Western Conference Finals in a row, despite having a different #2 each year (Kat and Randle), and both #2s are known for being flawed... ANT has done more than Wemby can even dream of doing at this point...
ANT has eliminated Durant, Booker, Jokic, Doncic, LeBron and Butler from the playoffs (and the injured Curry).

Dub has been better than Brown for a couple seasons now. He has fewer holes than Brown does and he’s a better defender. This season when Jaylen gets as many shots as he wants will be an interesting test.

But JDub guards 1-5 well, which is going to give him the nod over some of the guys who play no defense.

Paolo this year is the one on the list with the best chance to be a better player this year.

Once Curry, Kawhi, Lebron, Durant retire, in soon future, and Jokić, Giannis & AD ages, league will have such a massive drop in pure quality.

When you see lists of top players, as soon as you pass top 30 you are entering role players list.

Right now it's enough to have 1 good season in contract year, on .500 team to enter "top 50 list". Ringer had Dyson Daniels around 50.
Guy had 1 good season in his life. Not even elite season, rather bit above average 3 & D guard, with rather mediocre 14 ppg on lot of steals. Nothing more. 17 min of playoffs in entire career. But that alone almost got him DPOY & "TOP 50 " list.

It's crazy.

I get the pushback but Mobley was All-NBA 2nd team and DPOY while JDubb was All-NBA 3rd team and All-Defense 2nd team. They were both in the top 10-15 players last year and given age you’d expect them to be better this year.

Man if the Cavs have two top 10 players, they should be representing the East in the Finals this season.

Either way, anything less than a Finals appearance for the Cavs this season is a failure. Highest paid roster in the NBA, get the job done.
