That sounds pretty spot on...every once in a while he'll pull down 15 rebs and I'll be like "Oh he's on that team now?"

Yup. Guess theres no place for an undersized big man who doesnt have an offensive skill in this league anymore.

I always thought Precious would fill in for Isaac when he was out. I've seen him outplay Isaac before. We have Penda now. Hopefully, Penda can learn how to hit the 3 like Anchiuwa couldn't.RookieStar wrote:Skybox wrote:RookieStar wrote:I kinda think Precious is like Bo Outlaw. Guys like that are marginalized today...if you can't shoot and switch defensively there's really not much of a place for you today. Those of us that are older have to recalibrate what talent is workable in THIS NBA...Even former MVPs like Westbrook don't really have a huge impact in today's game. There's not much difference between Westbrook and Fultz in 2025.

Also BBIQ matters.
Mo Bamba blocks shots and makes 3 but is negative on both ends because he isn't capable of making good basketball decisions.

Bamba has the physicality to have been a "Wembanyama". I never understood why he lacks mental effort.
A 2.4m wingspan is nearly 8-feet of length. He was gifted by god to play basketball. So he gives a career 7ppg/5rpg/1bpg "effort". He is not giving back to god with that line!
It's sad.
The weird thing: he's only 27. If he would turn his brain on, he could still carve out a Hall of Fame level of stat lines. But he won't. What a waste.
p.s. This is what an 8-feet wingspan looks like as a comparison:

Look at this release point. The ball is about 9-feet off the ground in his jumper.
Why isn't Bamba putting up KD shooting levels mid-range?!?!?!?!?

p.s. wow does Carter look small in this photo

Let me project a player with similar physical gifts but perhaps unable to bring it together and still is on our team.
Anthony Black has all the tools in the woodshed to be a penny hardaway level player just based on physical gifts alone.
But the physical + minut hard skill + feel for the game all has to meet at once. Bama just didn't have that.

Penny was a muuuuch better athlete than AB.

Do you think Penny could guard Wemby if he played today? Anthony Black can.
Sports wise, Penny had all the handles and intangibles that Black doesn't but this doesn't mean Black isn't a gifted althlete capable of guarding 1-4 positions. Including a young Wemby.

AB lacks burst & verticalilty. Reason he cant beat serious defences off the dribble & has big trouble finishing because he has to use awkward angles when finishing with contact.

Pistons seem likely to forgo rookie contract extensions for Jaden Ivey, Jalen Duren
What wonderful news for Orlando. Detroit will play with two disgruntled players this year and, from next year, will probably have lost one or both of these young guns. Closing the window before it's fully open, to quote my son, "Well Done".

Penny was the (true) first overall pick, an All-NBA superstar, with insane athletic ability and size to match an elite PG skill set...Let's not spend time comparing AB to him, it's silly.
That's not a knock on AB at all. Very different player with very different skill set.

Re: 2025-2026: Around the League
Wait, did someone just say "AB can defend Wemby" ?
Come on, now's where you backtrack and say "for a couple of seconds off of a switch as long as he picks up his dribble on the perimeter"...silliness, AB might be an elite defender but he's not stopping an insanely skilled, giant-sized, mobile Center...very few players at any spot can claim that....or do you mean "hold him to 30"?

Erm, I'd be looking at as that they are both now in a contract year playing for their next deals.

Not only can AB now guard Wemby but by doing so makes him like Penny Hardaway. I mean, it's an opinion.

AB will get better at finishing. Penny was a full year older than AB is now in his rookie season. Penny was 22.5 years old his rookie season.GelbeWand09 wrote:JoshuaPotter wrote:GelbeWand09 wrote:
