Fox to Miami

Post#1 » by babyjax13 » Mon Oct 20, 2025 5:50 pm

MIA trades: Andrew Wiggins, Terry Rozier, 2030 MIA 1st, 2032 pick swap (SAS receives higher of MIA/SAS 1st, 1-4 protected)
SAS trades: De'Aaron Fox, Kelly Olynyk

Again, this trade assumes that Harper is ready for big minutes by the all-star break and it is becoming clear that there is a less certain role for Fox, so he is open to being moved to a team where he has a large role. San Antonio gets some future assets and a nice forward to fill out their rotation. Miami gets a point guard who compliments their bigs that space a bit + Herro pretty well. I could see Jovic replacing the pick swap here, as he would be a nice fit in SAS?

Harper - Castle - Vassell - Wiggins - Wemby

Fox - Herro - Jovic - Bam - Ware

I feel like this might be light for Fox, but maybe I'm misreading things? Feels like the Spurs should be getting a prospect or two and second first

Why is everyone trying to trade Fox? Let's just see how it turns out first ;)

Spurs just traded 3 firsts and like 4 seconds for Fox, why would they do this? People project their own doubts onto the Spurs, as if it were them calling the shots. Fact of the matter is, Spurs made the deal they were comfortable with and gave Fox that extension just 3 months ago, they aren't in any rush to trade him for pennies on the dollar.

Spurs aren't trading Fox right now. They will re-evaluate in a year or two. The guy just forced a trade to the Spurs, the optics would be terrible.

When Fox forced the trade to SA, they hadn't drafted Harper yet.

Nor did they even have a thought they would be in position to.

Maybe not when they traded for Fox, but they had drafted Harper when they extended him. In any case, I fail to see why the Spurs would give Fox an extension only to immediately turn around and move him at a loss because they're uncomfortable with it. Doesn't make any sense.

You may end up losing value on him ultimately because it takes someone willing to match what you paid, but it won't be anytime soon IMO. You're going to see how the pieces fit before making any moves.

Well, Fox and his agent will be cool with it then...

Maybe sometime down the road, if things don't go well. My point is, it doesn't make any sense right now, when there's no new information they didn't have at the time of the extension.

While it's certainly possible that Harper is an impact player right out of the gate, that's a big assumption for a trade like this. Harper would probably have to look better than Fox and that's a tall order for a young guy his rookie year.

If I was SA, I'd be all over trying to trade Fox for a package built around Ware, Wiggins, Rozier, and the swap. Ware/Wemby/Bryant/Castle/Harper runs the league for a decade +. But then again, I'm unrealistically high on Ware.
