Technically it's alumni, so I can say/ask ... Really, Ben Simmons? Really, New York Knicks? I can't imagine a worse place for Simmons.

ADD Mook: Gambling debts
Marcus Morris, an NBA free agent, was arrested in Florida on July 27, 2025, on a fraud charge linked to unpaid casino debts from Las Vegas casinos, totaling over $250,000.
The arrest stems from allegations that Morris used bad checks to withdraw funds from the Bellagio and Wynn Las Vegas casinos in June 2024, leading to two arrest warrants issued earlier this year.
A judge denied his bond request on July 29, 2025, allowing release only for extradition to Nevada or if the warrants are dropped.
Casino markers, which Morris references, are credit lines offered by Las Vegas casinos, requiring repayment within 30 days, with non-payment potentially leading to legal action.
The "MOB style" mention alludes to the historical influence of organized crime in Las Vegas, notably from the 1940s to 1980s, when figures like Bugsy Siegel shaped the city's gambling industry.

Trez departing Australia in strange circumstances weeks from the new season starting.
Not entirely clear and there’s no official team statements, but it is understood that Australia’s NBL has reciprocal arrangements with many other FIBA affiliated leagues, including China. This means a player suspended in one league has that suspension apply to all affiliated leagues.
Trez is apparently looking at a 6 month ban for marijuana use while playing in a Chinese league, leaving Australia’s NBL hamstrung to oblige with the FIBA reciprocal agreement.

Bones gets a non-guaranteed contract with the Wolves. Timberwolves general manager Tim Connelly drafted Hyland in the first round with the Denver Nuggets back in 2021.

Yeah, it's the doping thing. I'm feeling it for Trezz. He says it for weed and, well, maybe it is. He's not the mentally strongest person out there, though; he's dealt with some issues, not always in the best way. Really hope he gets it together. The guy is only 31. He's only three years removed from four consecutive years in the top 10 (and a win) of 6MOY voting. Hope things work out for him.

Classy. Good to hear.
- Lou Williams explains that the Clippers offer him seats right on the sidelines… while the Lakers, on the other hand, seat him 20 rows higher up.
“They straight up put me in the crowd!”

Re: CLIPPERS ALUMNI THREAD
They realize they blew it, I think. Fate made them teammates for the best years of their lives but they just didn't pull together. They even divided the court in two: Blake on the left block and CP at the right elbow.
Then poof! it was gone. CP3 went off on a ring chase with Beard in Houston and less than a year later Blake was in in NBA Siberia [Detroit].

Russ douches Bron lol
Russell Westbrook reportedly grew tired of LeBron’s “fake” behavior during their time in L.A, per

“I hate that fake sh*t, I just can’t do it.”
- • LeBron quietly pushed for a reunion with Kyrie Irving — a move that would’ve required trading Westbrook, despite publicly denying it.
• LeBron often said “Let Russ be Russ” in interviews but didn’t actually support him behind the scenes.
• During a Lakers team event where Will Smith came to speak, LeBron and AD suddenly walked out before he arrived. Minutes later, they returned acting overly friendly—LeBron dominated the talk, asking questions and quoting movie lines.
Westbrook, watching in disbelief, told a teammate after:
“I hate that fake sh*t. I just can’t do it.”
• Westbrook saw multiple examples of LeBron misrepresenting himself — like claiming The Godfather was his favorite movie but not knowing a single line, carrying The Autobiography of Malcolm X to interviews without being able to discuss it, and even saying he predicted Kobe’s 81-point game. These moments made Russ view LeBron as inauthentic.

Rigged games: The indictment describes a sophisticated scheme that used rigged card shufflers and other technology to cheat players.
Mafia involvement: According to federal prosecutors, the illegal gambling operation was backed by several New York organized crime families.
Criminal proceeds: As a "face card," Billups allegedly received a portion of the fraudulent proceeds.
In response to the charges, the NBA placed Billups on immediate leave. His attorney, Chris Heywood, has stated that Billups will fight the allegations.
